Small Dog Specialist w/ Fenced Yard

Hey there! My name is Dave and I am a Physical Therapist. Together with my work-from-home wife, we provide consistent, attentive care for your small dog. We are owners of two small dogs—Beanz (mini Dachshund, 8 lbs) and Bloo (Chihuahua mix, 10 lbs)—and understand the specific needs and safety requirements of smaller breeds. Our pet sitting experience includes short- and long-term stays for breeds like Australian Shepherds and Corgis. We recognize that every dog has a unique personality and we provide tailored care to match their temperament. While Bloo and Beanz are great at keeping guest dogs engaged, we can easily separate pets upon request. Our Hosting Requirements: Size & Age: 15 lbs and under only; must be at least 1 year old. All guests dogs must be spayed or neutered. Expectations: Exclusivity: We host only one household at a time for a low-stress environment. Safety: A complimentary meet-and-greet with our dogs is required prior to any stay.

Even as a dog owner myself, I have learned a lot about proper and better dog care from Dave and Vivian. After the first time they babysat my rambunctious boy corgi, I knew I found the right dog sitters. They were very good communicators and took great notes about how to take care of my boy. No detail was too small. From his feeding schedule/requirements, to strict walking schedule. They really helped put me at ease and showed me that they cared for him. Their deep and inherent connection with dogs is absolutely evident. I noticed it most when hearing then witnessing the lengths and love they give to their own dogs. From the incredible training, diet and adventures they are able to provide Bloo and Beanz's, I was able to take away ideas and learn from them. I’ve been very grateful to have a trusting home for my dog when needed. No doubt would they demonstrate the same level of outstanding care to anyone else's pup.

Vivian and Dave are our absolute go-to whenever we head out of town for a weekend. Our dog gets so excited every time we pull up to their house! It’s such a relief knowing he isn’t just sitting in a kennel somewhere but is actually hanging out on the couch or playing in the yard with Bloo and Beanz. Knowing that someone is always home with him makes such a big difference.

I wouldn't have trusted anyone else when I had to leave my mini Aussie for a full month while I was overseas. With Bloo and Beanz, Dave and Vivian totally get the 'small dog' energy and quirks. My pup was so happy with them everyday that I could tell he was sad to go home alone with me when I picked him up. With Vivian working from home and their back yard, I knew he was living like a king when I was gone. It really took a huge weight off my shoulders knowing he was with friends who loved him like their own!

Schedule

Our Daily Schedule: Morning: Early morning potty breaks and breakfast, followed by some active playtime with Bloo and Beanz before I head to the clinic. During the Day: Since my wife is home, dogs enjoy frequent backyard access or walks. Your dog will never be left alone for extended periods. Evening: I return home for evening walks and wind-down time. We treat our guests like family, so evening "cuddle time" on the couch is a standard part of the routine. Because we only take one household at a time, we are able to mirror your dog's specific feeding, potty schedule, and sleep environment as closely as possible to minimize any stress while you're away.

Safety, trust & environment

Pet care is seamlessly integrated into our daily routine. Because my wife works from home full-time, your dog will have a consistent human presence and "coworker" throughout the day. My career as a Physical Therapist means I am naturally detail-oriented when it comes to following specific care instructions including medications / special diet or other accommodation upon request.

Pets

A typical day

If your dog is social, they’ll spend the day hanging out with Bloo and Beanz. Whether it’s a game of "zoomies" in the back yard or playing with toys, your dog will stay mentally and physically engaged. My wife Vivian will provide continuous companionship throughout the workday. This means plenty of ear scratches, head pats, and verbal praise between her meetings. We enjoy going on leashed walks for fresh air and "sniff-tivities," ensuring your dog gets to stretch their legs safely. For dogs that prefer a slower pace, we will meet them where they are comfortable and provide individualized daily routine. We understand that some small dogs prefer to observe the action from a cozy lap or a soft bed.

We are small dog specialists: Usually, we prefer to host small dogs weighing 15 lbs or less. Dogs weighing 15-25 lbs are welcomed if they suits the character / personalities of a small dog (assessed on a case by case basis during a complimentary “meet and great” session. Spay/Neuter Policy: For the health and behavioral stability of the pack, all guest dogs must be spayed or neutered. Safety First: We require a complimentary meet-and-greet with Bloo and Beanz prior to your first stay. This ensures that everyone—humans and pups alike—is comfortable and compatible before the booking begins. Age: We currently do not accept puppies younger than 1 year old. One Household Only: We will never "double book" with other clients; your dog(s) will be the only guests in our home during their stay. Things to bring for each stay: Description of preferred daily routine (Potty & Feed schedules, sleeping preferences, habits and things that make them anxious etc). We can provide dry food (Hill's Science Diet Adult Small Breed & Mini), training treats & dog toys but you can always feel free to bring your own for them. We can provide a dog bed (washed before every guest), but we strongly recommend brining their familiar bed or crate since that almost always help reduce their stress in a new environment. We also encourage you to bring a t-shirt with your scent which might help them feel safer.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
