I work from home. So lots of time spent with dogs and looking them after. My cocker spaniel, I usually take her for a walk early in the morning and a longer walk in the evenings. When it’s dry and the ground is not soft, I let her off the lead to run around the park! She becomes a maniac (I should sign her up for the olympics, lol)! Anyway, back to my daily routine, because I work from home, I have a lot of time to talk with my dog and get their feedback about something challenging, although she doesn’t say much words, but the wag of the tail sometimes help, lol! The fantastic thing of working from home means that I am seeing her all the time and when I am having lunch she can have lunch too. Also, it means I am available to give her numerous potty breaks as possible.

Safety, trust & environment

The way In which I care for pets in my home is that I have security cameras all around my house. My cocker spaniel isn’t allowed to go into some rooms. I have a fenced yard and because I work in the kitchen the back door is open for her to run around (however, she prefer being curled up on her donut next to me, except I’m in the garden with her)! If we are going for walks, I always have my dog on lead until we meet a safe park.

A typical day

A typical day pet sitting for a dog starts with a cheerful morning greeting and a refreshing walk. After breakfast, there’s playtime with fetch or tug-of-war, followed by some cuddle time. Midday includes a potty break, a short walk, and a fun training session. In the afternoon, a visit to the park allows the dog to explore and socialize, followed by some interactive games at home. As evening approaches, dinner is served, followed by another walk . The day winds down with snuggles on the couch and a final potty break before bed, ensuring the dog feels loved and secure throughout the day.

Pet care experience

Growing up on a farm in the Caribbean, I was surrounded by a menagerie of animals, but my heart always belonged to dogs. Taking care of them was my responsibility as a teenager, and those experiences shaped my love for pets. As an adult, I welcomed a charming cocker spaniel into my life—my queen, my princess, my little diva! Her playful nature led to the arrival of five adorable puppies after a flirtation with a local boy. I cherished each moment with them, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to find them new homes last year. Though they are no longer with me, I take comfort in knowing they are happy, and I still get to see them occasionally. I work from home and therefore can take care of any dog that need some love instead of being left at home alone. There is a lot of love and patience here for your pets while you’re away.

Melia was fantastic. Was v nervous about leaving Rocky with a new sitter. Professional, caring and all round good person. She looked after Rocky beautifully. We had a meet and greet before hand too, after which I had no fears about leaving him. Thoroughly recommend Melia and would leave Rocky in her care again without a moment’s hesitation.

We loved Melia the minute we met her. This was his first time away from us. Louie stayed for 3 nights whilst we got married. Louie seemed quite at home when we visited. We had lots of updates, pictures & videos throughout his stay. It sounded like Melia was having as much fun as Louie. Louie isnt talking to me yet 🤣, im sure he is missing his huge walks and chicken breast 🫶🫶 We will definetly be using Melia again. Highly recommend.
