This was the worst experience I have had using Rover. Drop-off initially went as planned and on time, but upon arrival there were three other dogs in the home. This was not clearly communicated beforehand. Only one additional dog had been briefly mentioned, and it was framed as a special circumstance. While my dog is generally fine with other dogs, having multiple dogs present without clear prior disclosure was unexpected. Communication was also challenging. Monsserath speaks limited English, and a family member had to assist with interpreting during drop-off. While I respect and appreciate people from all backgrounds, the language barrier appeared to contribute to difficulties later, particularly when trying to offer suggestions to help manage my dog’s behavior. After approximately one day, while we were overseas on vacation, I was informed that my dog had accidents in the home despite being taken on walks. Shortly after, I was told that she could no longer keep my dog and that I needed to arrange immediate pickup. Being out of the country, this created an extremely stressful and nearly impossible situation to resolve quickly. It ultimately took about 1–2 days of coordinating with Rover’s Trust and Safety team and reaching out to multiple family members and friends before I was able to arrange for someone to pick her up. This significantly disrupted our trip and caused unnecessary stress and anxiety. We have used Rover many times in the past without any issues, which made this experience especially disappointing. Additionally, only a partial refund was provided. Based on this experience, I would not recommend booking with this sitter, and I will not be using Rover again.
