Pet care experience

Our pets make us better humans.

**please make sure you are within my service area before sending a booking request** I am a professional interdisciplinary artist who has worked and volunteered in the animal welfare field for over 30 years. I’ve worked as a vet-tech and kennel tech in shelters, as well as smaller clinics and rescues in Massachusetts and Texas. I grew up in a household with multiple cats and dogs. I am an advocate for bully breeds, and have owned pit bulls and pit mixes through much of my adult life. I treat all cats, dogs, exotics and other animals with utmost care, love, compassion, and patience, regardless of size, breed, and behavior. I have a clean driving record and am fully insured. I appreciate you giving me an opportunity to care for your furry kiddos, and look forward to it.

Toast had a wonderful time at Monique and Brody’s. I could not have asked for a better caregiver for my 17 year old pup. It is such a relief to find someone so caring and focused on the pups.

Monique is the consummate pet professional. I was concerned at our meet + greet as my dogs Jack + Jenni are noise makers, overtake spaces, and can be a little too eager to make friends upon initial contact. Monique immediately put me at ease. She is patient, and a master at making skittish pets feel right at home and loved. Within hours my littles were calm and bonded with her wonderful sweet dog companion Brody. She shared photos and videos of strolls in her yard and quiet restful moments in her home. Without a beat she managed Jack’s strict medication regimen which was relieving. It was a pleasure to meet Monique and we’d certainly be back if she’d have this dynamic duo over again !

Monique is a GREAT dog sitter and lives on an ideal piece of land for active dogs. She took excellent care of our energetic Westie for 9 days and he had such a great time with Monique’s dog Brody. She kept great notes on our dog and we were comfortable leaving him with her because she bonded with him quickly. She also has vet tech experience which is a nice bonus. I highly recommend her!

10/10 recommendation for Monique! She was super flexible and accommodating, which made our long weekend much easier. Most importantly, her attentiveness to our dogs' needs gave us total peace of mind. She truly goes above and beyond.

Monique is wonderful, and I will definitely use her again! She went out of her way to communicate we me, learn about my dogs, and provide excellent care to them while I was away. It was so nice that I didn’t have to worry about my dogs while I was on my trip. I cannot recommend her enough!

Because I work from home I have a lot of flexibility for pet care. During boardings I stay home so you needn’t worry about your pets being left unattended.

Safety, trust & environment

I live on 10 acres in Wimberley. My property is fenced, but because some dogs won’t obey commands from those other than their family and might behave differently in a foreign environment I do not let them off leash. My home and porch are spacious so there is a lot of room to play. (I do have plans to securely fence in a dog area on the ranch, and will be sure to mention it when I do). If you choose to board your pet at my place I WILL stay home (which is fine since I work from home much of the time), so your dogs will never be left unattended. I’m very tidy and do not leave anything laying around that could be a potential hazard for your fur babies. I have 2 large dog beds which I wash between uses. I also have a variety of toys for dogs (which also get washed and sanitized), and keep a variety of healthy snacks and (rawhide-free) chews on hand, food and water bowls. I also have a variety of harnesses (currently only for medium and large breed dogs) leads, and dog seat belts, clip-on lights for night walks. If you prefer your pet be crated while here you will need to supply the crate. ** Photos of house and interior upon request.

Pets

A typical day

I like to mix play time with short training sessions, using strictly positive reinforcement: with friendly, loving voice, body language, and training treats. Playtime will consist of whatever play pet parents prefer, but based on observations, I may introduce new forms of play if pet parents would like. In places where dog parks have agility equipment, I will encourage dogs to try the agility course (but never by force).
