Before caring for your pet, it’s helpful for me to know any medical conditions or medications, including instructions for administration, the feeding schedule and dietary restrictions, behavior around other pets, people, or children, fears, triggers, or anxieties such as thunderstorms or car rides, favorite toys, games, or comfort items, and any special routines or habits that help them feel safe and happy. This helps me provide safe, consistent, and personalized care so your pet feels comfortable, loved, and secure while you’re away.

I tailor activities to each pet’s personality, age, and energy level. For dogs, this can include walks, playtime with toys, fetch, gentle training exercises, and mental enrichment games. For cats, I provide interactive play with toys, puzzle feeders, and lots of gentle attention and cuddles if they enjoy it. I also make sure pets have plenty of rest, love, and reassurance so they feel safe and happy while you’re away.

10 years of veterinary and hands-on animal care experience and truly enjoy working with all types of dogs. I live with a Great Pyrenees and an Australian Shepherd, so I’m very comfortable with large breeds and strong pullers. Over the years, I’ve also cared for cats, chickens, goats, lizards, snakes, hamsters, and many other animals, so I’m comfortable with a wide variety of species and personalities. I prioritize safe, calm, and positive walks, tailoring exercise to each dog’s age, energy, and personality. I can administer medications, including injections like insulin, and I pay close attention to routines, behavior, and special care instructions. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been the one who disappears at parties or events to hang out with the animals, that passion for being around and caring for pets has never left me. I have three young kids and recently transitioned out of a full-time job to focus on pet care, giving me flexible and reliable daytime availability.

To know Monica is to know her love of animals, and how much animals love her. Monica is energetic, reliable, and always has a positive attitude in any situation.
Monica is a must hire!! She helped out with my 100 pound Lab who is a forever puppy and very active. My dog actually was able to stay with her and her beautiful family for a few days, he was reluctant to come home with me. Needless to say, she treated him as her own and that’s all I could ask for. Her extensive background in animal care makes her the perfect person for your pet care needs.
Monica is the most organized and responsible person I know. She absolutely adores animals and they adore her as well. She owns (currently) 2 dogs, 2 indoor cats, 3 barn cats, and chickens, and previously owned goats. She was a Vet-Tech in Hawaii and worked at Del Mar Pet Hospital in Aptos as well with Dr. Molly Tackebury so she would be able to administer meds or attend to an ailing pet without issue. Monica is a very energetic person that would take your critters on walks to the beach or around the neighborhood or just give them lots of love. She's definitely worth checking out--you will love her!
