Safety, trust & environment
I am an experienced pet owner (dogs, cats, smaller mammals, birds, fish), who loves animals. I leash dogs 🐕 inside the house before walks, for safety. I give each animal personal attention. I know how to administer medicine (pills, liquids, injections) to dogs and cats.
Information Mona P. would like to know about your pet
At the first meeting, I'd like to know about your dog's routine, feeding schedule/amount, and any medications your dog might need. I also try to get a sense of your dog’s temperament, and I ask you if he/she has any specific likes or dislikes. If you haven’t told me before the first meeting, I’ll ask you about your veterinarian and back up contact information (friend/relative) while you're away. I encourage you to let me know whatever else you feel is important, to make my care of your dog or cat successful and as comfortable as possible. I like all breeds of dogs, so no particular preference on breed.
A typical day
Here's where we'll take our walks The walks will be on a leash in your neighborhood sidewalk or fitness trail. When House Sitting or in Drop-In visits, we walk your dog every day for at least 30 minutes, two short walks (20 to 30-minutes) or one longer walk, about 40 minutes long. Your dog's sleeping arrangement Your dog or cat’s sleeping arrangement is whatever you provide—they can sleep in the comfort of their own crate or dog bed. Time I'll spend with your dog We’re in the house most of the day, while House Sitting. Your dog would seldom be alone. Your dog would get walks every day, on your neighborhood sidewalks and fitness trail. Alternatively I could play in your backyard with your dog. Before feeding time is always a good time for pats. Before bed we always read a book and cuddle with the dog(s) or cat that wants to, followed by a late night bathroom break and a dog biscuit. Time I'll spend with your dog For visits to take care of your dog or cat (Drop-In Visits), I’d walk your dog on a leash for ~30 minutes, on neighborhood sidewalks or fitness trail. Then I’d feed him/her and give him fresh water. For cat visits I’d clean the litter box and feed and water him/her. I’d also engage in some patting and play time, on each visit. For House Sitting where I stay at your home, I give two, 30 minute walks a day, and four short (10 minute) leashed walks as “bathroom breaks” in the morning, around noon at dinner time and last thing at night (around 9:00 pm). Before feeding time is always a good time for pats. Before bed I always read a book and cuddle with any dog or cat that feels cuddly. Extra house-sitting services Bringing in the mail, newspaper, packages and/or watering plants, is free. The rate for other tasks, can be negotiated.

Pet care experience
Loving, Individual Pet Care, Comes to You! We're an experienced, animal-friendly family (Adult Son and Me), in Poolesville, MD. We've taken care of dogs and cats most of our lives. Presently we offer house sitting, drop-in visits (once to 4 times a day) and dog walking. We'd love to take care of your dog, cat or other pet with House Sitting (stay at your home to feed, walk, clean litter boxes, etc.). Shy pets, multiple pets or animals who don’t travel well, are best cared for using House Sitting, while you're away on vacation or a business trip. Drop-In Visits are taking care of your pet in individual home visits. Drop-In Visits, once or twice a day are suitable for cats over several days when their people are away from home — I’d give Kitty food, water and clean his/her litter box. Drop-In Visits, 3 or 4 times a day are suitable for dogs — I’d give Rover (or Lassie) food, water and walks. Another use of Drop-In Visits is to have me come take care of your dog if you need a morning or evening visit because you’ve been away and are returning mid-day or coming home late from work or a fair or concert. I would feed/water your Rover (or Kitty), give Rover a bathroom break and a walk or clean Kitty’s litter box. Also offered is dog walking for your active Dog or pair of Dogs. We’re careful to leash dogs inside the house, before we take them out for walks in the neighborhood. We treat your dog (or other pet), as a cherished member of the family. If ROVER needs medicine, I’m experienced in giving it. We do bathing and grooming for dogs. We also do Doggy and Kitty Transportation. We have a travel harness and crates for dogs and large and small cat carriers. “Pet Parents” get smartphone texts or computer e-mails, regularly. The phone texts and e-mails have photos and short videos. House Sitting — I spend most of the day at your home. Feeding walks and litter box cleaning is included in the price. Typical Drop In Visit (30 minutes at your home): feeding your dog(s) or cat(s) or walking Rover or cleaning Kitty’s litter box. Dog Walking — I come to your home and walk your dog(s) around the neighborhood. Typical dog walking visits are 30 minutes per visit.) Service is restricted to a 4-mile radius of my house, in Poolesville, MD. Because of high demand, we have Holiday rates on National Holidays for House Sitting, Drop In Visits and Dog Walking. (Additional pets, add a little to the charge.) I’ve taken care of several types of animals (dogs, cats, birds, hamsters, horses, etc.) before, and enjoy it. Small household tasks (bringing in newspaper and mail, watering plants, etc.), is free, with the House Sitting and Drop-In Visit services. Note: I love cats and offer cat sitting as well as dog sitting! I'm happy to stay at your house or visit your kitty while you're away.

Reviews

Mona is super-reliable, and our cat Callie really seems to enjoy her visits. Mona provides detailed reports and several photos on each of her visits, and we feel lucky to have found someone dependable to look after Callie when we're away.

Mona was reliable the pets were happy.

Mona was wonderful with my dog and two cats while we were actions the country for a week. She communicated multiple times everyday with pictures. We came home to very happy pets, I'm sure they miss her already. We highly recommend Mona for pet care, A+.

Mona is a wonderful cat sitter. She visits our home whenever we're out of town to look after our one cat and sends detailed reports and lots of photos after every visit. It's very reassuring to know that our sweet "Plush" is being well looked after!
