I have a WFH job that makes weaving in dog care quite easily. I am typically unavailable between 8am-11:30am for logistical matters (pick-up/drop-off etc) but anything outside of that I am pretty flexible barring the occasional work meeting here and there. This only applies to logistical/human-to-human matters; any morning dog care of course still take place. Pick-up and drop-off service would include a fee based on distance/time. Information from Google maps is used to determine this. Please note Rover charges a 25% service fee (typically rounded up) onto the pickup and drop-off fee. Extremely large dogs unfortunately cannot be accommodated as our vehicles are on the smaller side. Large and smaller are all totally great!

Safety, trust & environment
For services outside our home, I always make sure to review and note any details provided upon booking from you and will always ask for confirmation regarding flea treatment, any medication or medical issues, as well as any behavioral issues. Aside from that, I generally trust that no one knows your dog like you do while also understanding that every dog can react differently to any given person on a given day and keeping aware of your dog and their sense of safety throughout any service I provide. For services at out home, me and my partner work together to always oversee play to ensure it’s safe and mutual and use positive reinforcement techniques to encourage play for dogs who may lean anxious. We also work to help keep a more calm environment for older dogs or dogs who simply may want space. Transparently, our dog Ava LOVES to play with other dogs so if your own dog leans more social or playful they will really get a ton out of their stay with us. She also understands how to give space to dogs who don't want to play and we are always mindful of reinforcing and making sure your dog feels safe and comfortable with everyone here. While your dog stays with us you can rest assured they will be physically engaged either through long play and training sessions, fun times at the local dog park, and/or nice long walks (when it isn’t scorching outside to keep their paws safe). Additionally, on longer boarding requests we make an intention of bringing your pup on a more special excursion- perhaps a walk by a river or hiking trail or going to a particular park that may be more out of the way. These tend to be fun not just for the dogs but for us as well as we continue to check out new places here in Sacramento.

Information MJ & Polo M. would like to know about your pet
I generally follow most any business standard needs of pet care services regarding basic information: All services: - Confirmation of flea treatment - Any medical issues/pregnancy - Notable behavior quirks or concerns and triggers Boarding - Dog must be crate trained and crate must be provided - Generally acceptable hygiene (they don't need to be shower fresh but we cannot accept dogs covered in dirt/grime or otherwise poor hygiene) For boarding requests we do require your pup be crate trained and that said crate is provided upon their stay. We are hardly ever away from the house aside from a grocery store trip or a meal; the crate is to ensure everyone's safety in the small moments we are out. We otherwise love having more furry friends with us on the couch or bed at night if that is something you do at home. Aside from the above mandatory bits, the more info you can give us the better! Anything that helps us make them happier is always great. I also particularly appreciate if you can provide your "keywords" that signal potty time, meal time, bedtime, and/or disengage and recall. We do our best to keep your dog on as similar of a schedule as we can to what you already provide.
A typical day
My first goal is to always make sure your dog feels safe- to that end, I try to make the transition as smooth as possible and any info you can give me about their personal favorite activities, schedule, or treats is very helpful. Otherwise, I love to play games with them- fetch, tug, you name it- take them on a walk, or if they are good with recall and social with other dogs, taking them to a nearby dog park. We have a pup ourselves who is very social and great at initiating activities throughout the day- we ensure safe play and appropriate breaks.

Pet care experience
Hi I'm MJ and the other folks in my photos are Polo (my partner) and Ava (our pup). We recently moved up from the Bay Area and are looking forward to meeting new pet parents and providing caring, professional, and trusted care to your favorite little fur baby or babies! I’ve grown up with dogs since the day I was born. To me they are like family and I understand how important it is for any pet parent to know that your lil one is in good and safe hands. I have experience with the full range of dog ages from puppy raising and training as well as senior dog care. I have received dog behavioral training through the Humane Society of Sonoma where I volunteered for a number of years. Above all else, I genuinely find caring for dogs heartwarming and rewarding. Me and my partner Polo (who also has a verified profile here on Rover) are both active in the care of your pet or pets when they stay with us for boarding or day-care. We have a lot of space and a large fenced backyard with grass where we do most of the pup play time if we are not out walking or taking them out to a nearby park.
Reviews

MJ was the perfect choice to care for our fur baby. From the start he was very communicative and responsive. My family was going through a hard time and I needed someone that could be flexible in my pick up and drop off times. He was very accommodating and helpful. He sent updates, videos and photos to ensure us that Bali was comfortable and happy. Know that your dog will be in in good hands with MJ. Will definitely use him again in the future!
MJ and Polo were great with our pup Sophie. Easy to communicate and arrange everything. Appreciated the photo updates. I plan to book with them again 🙂
