I am currently a student who is studying Neuroscience. In addition to being a student I also coach volleyball in Denver during club season (Dec-May). I am pretty good at updating my schedule here on Rover and can say making sure your pet is taken care of is a top priority even with my schedule.

Safety, trust & environment

As someone who studies neuroscience, I think the brain and behavior of pets are amazingly complex yet something that does come easy for me to pick up on from their signaling. I have five VERY different dogs where one can walk five miles and still want to play ball for hours and another could walk half a mile and just want to go back home to sleep. I am very open to all differences that come with your fur baby and how I can try to keep their routine ideally similar to yours so they can feel comfortable.

Information Miya O. would like to know about your pet

I am someone who is very transparent when it comes to my availability so I am asking that you please let me know in the initial sitting request if I am needed to be at your home the entire length of stay. If it is a walk/drop-in request, I might be booked at the time that you first request but I will always send when I am available to get your pet needs in.

A typical day

I love to stimulate the pets that I watch mentally and physically. I enjoy giving each pet both throughout my stay by walking, enrichments like a filled kong, playing ball or whatever excites your pet. Usually when I am walking a pet I incorporate small training sessions from correcting them from not leaving the door without a command, sitting down while putting on their collar/harness/leash, or asking for a 'heel' in the middle of a walk for example. I always have treats with me throughout the time I am with your pets (if they are treat trained) to make sure your work continues. Some pet parents do not treat train and rather have different rewards, please let me know those rewards so I can also continue your training.

Pets

No dog too aggressive or reactive!

Pet care experience

Over the last few years I have found myself levitating to canine with aggression/reactive behavior histories. My two labs for example were going to be put down due to their behavior and I decided to take them in and completely change not only their life but mine. The bond that is created between a canine and a handler is unbreakable. While I may just be taking care of your fur baby for a short time, I will honor the training you have put into your dog and continue to help you build the confidence your dog needs. I am very comfortable with working with prong and e-collars. I believe that prong collars are self correctors and if used properly can strengthen the relationships between the handler and canine. Many individuals are completely opposed to e-collars, which did indeed use to be my opinion but the freedom that comes from an e-collar is unremarkable. My lab who once tore someones tendon is completely off leash trained and the security of having an e-collar on her, lets her have the freedom that never could have happened.
