I received no photos or videos on the first day of my furbaby's stay. When I expressed my concerns, Mitchell responded: "I'll send photos when I can! I have seven dogs with me, so I typically do updates all at once in the evening." Throughout the stay, updates were sparse, + several of my questions—including whether B was being walked—went unanswered. My dog was not walked during his visit. Instead, he appeared to spend most of his time in the backyard + with the landlord, who was feeding him treats that I had not authorized. In fact, Mitchell was instructed to provide B only with the food + snacks that I provided. Most concerning, my furbaby returned home 1.6 pounds heavier. Yes, I weigh my dog regularly, + the weight gain was noticeable. In fact, I immediately noticed a difference in the final photo I received the night before pickup. Both in my Rover profile + during my verbal conversation with Mitchell, I clearly stated that B should only be given the food + treats I provide. This instruction was not followed, which is especially disappointing given the significant weight gain during a relatively short stay.

Our first time leaving our doggo with someone while we went away. Mitchell was outstanding! He was communicative, respectful, professional and patient. Our blue heeler LOVED him. Couldn’t be more grateful and happy with our choice. Your dog will be in GREAT hands.

Safety, trust & environment

A dog’s primary stressor is uncertainty. An uncertain dog has no direction—they don't know what to do, where to go, or how to behave; they can’t predict outcomes and thus regard all stimuli as potential threats. So, to prevent uncertainty, I define clear rules, boundaries, and limitations that communicate my role, expectations, and competence as their temporary pack leader. This communication enables dogs in my care to feel secure, relieving them of the burden of leadership and encouraging them to relax. And once relaxed, I reinforce this state of mind through play and affection. This is how dogs in healthy packs interact with each other. They don’t fear; they confront. They don’t tolerate; they address. They don’t intimidate; they instruct. They don’t entice; they encourage. They don’t comfort; they correct. By me employing these same behaviors, dogs in my care—even and especially those most fearful or aggressive—regard me as one of them. They respect me because I respect them. An additional benefit to this approach is that I remain in control for the duration of the care. This control minimizes surprises, ensuring that the dogs’ behavior is predictable and therefore manageable, providing you with confidence and peace of mind.

Pets

A typical day

By design, a typical day with me is full but uneventful. The dogs do normal dog things: eat, play, explore, chew, rest, nap, etc. Some play, whereas others observe. Some chew, whereas others chase. Some enjoy company, whereas others prefer to be left alone. And some just want to lie under blankets all day (dachshunds). I simply maintain an environment wherein they all can do so safely and comfortably.

OPERATING HOURS My operating hours are 8:00 AM–8:00 PM. These hours enable me to maintain a consistent routine for the dogs, myself, and my neighbors. Pick-ups and drop-offs outside these hours require an additional night of boarding. UPDATES Since I regularly board multiple dogs at a time, I can’t provide regular updates to everyone throughout the day, as doing so fractures my attention and takes a lot of time. So I typically send updates in the evening, when the dogs are fed and tired and I have some downtime. WALKING Since I regularly board multiple dogs at a time, I can’t walk any of them, as doing so would remove me from the group. I also can’t walk all of them at once, as many dogs are unstable on leads. Instead, the dogs receive structure through daily routines, stimulation through socializing, connection through interaction, and exercise through play.
