Pet care experience

I <3 Special Needs Dogs & Beardies

I have been fortunate to have had pets since I was a child: Cats, dogs, parrots, and reptiles. All of my pets have been rescues. Since my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was from a puppy mill, she had numerous health problems, resulting in paralysis later in life. But, she was able to adapt to a doggie quad cart and absolutely loved going for long walks in a stroller. While she required a great deal of hands-on care for many years, she lived a pain-free, long and happy life. My dog, Pepper, is a playful, energetic, loving black lab mix, who was taught that the little dogs are always the boss! She loves nothing more than to be around other dogs. My Beardie, Otis, loved baths, and he enjoyed spending time looking out the window, watching all of the activity, and being outside in the sunshine in the summertime. Devastatingly, he passed away, but I kept his vivarium and lamps with the hopes that I will be able to pet sit other beardies. I am experienced giving medications, and I have had training in working with dogs. Animals make my heart happy! I find that it is much less stressful on your baby if he/she can come and visit at least twice prior to being left here for the first time. Preferably, if one of those visits is one day of daycare.

Safety, trust & environment

I will shower your baby with attention and provide endless opportunities for play. Depending upon the weather and your pup’s normal activity level, we will walk for 1 to 3 miles twice per day plus go out for potty breaks every 2-3 hours, or we will take lots of short walks. I always use a leash when outdoors. It is very important for me to know if your dog has any triggers or becomes aggressive in certain situations, so that I can avoid those things. I will always have your baby's best interest at heart. This is not a kennel, nor is it a kennel-like set up. Rain or shine, or sleet or snow, I take the dogs for walks. Therefore, it is very important that your dog is leash trained and friendly. If your dog requires leash, potty, and/or behavioral training to stop marking, there will be an additional $10 per day charge for each day that it happens. I will do my best to get your dog leash trained well enough so that I am not yanked down the stairs and dragged down the street, but the training duration depends upon the dog. The same goes for pottying and marking. I will do my best, but please, for the sake of your dog, practice these things regularly throughout their lives.

Michele was a wonderful find. It was our first experience using Rover and we are so happy we found her. She was very good with our dog who takes a while to warm up to new people. Michele never missed a walk, was always on time and very gentle with our girl. She provided us feedback regularly and treated our dog like her own. We would highly recommend Michele.

This is our second time using Miss M’s Mutt Motel. We call her home “our dogs second home” because they love going there so much. We have an senior citizen pup who is in diapers 24/7 and Michelle takes such good care of her. She also spoils our massive Rottweiler Nori. We highly recommend her!

Benji and Priscella told us that they had a great staycation at Miss M's Mutt Motel. They enjoyed the many walks and frolicking around the neighborhood. At home, they were well occupied with the many toys and loved the many, many pets and posing for the frequent pics to keep Mom and Dad apprised of their well being. Looking forward to the next stay....

Michelle was AMAZING to our two senior dogs while we were on vacation. We have a special needs pup who is deaf and in diapers and she was so attentive and accommodating to her needs. She spoiled our fur babies the entire week. We will definitely be using her for our future trips! Highly recommend her!

I pet sit when I can be available full time, so your pup will be taken care of by me personally at all times, not left alone, not left outside or in a kennel or in a basement, and not left in a child’s or teen’s care while I work. House sitting and boarding rates cover a 24 hour period of time, so you are not charged additional daytime pet sitting rates.

If your dog has any special needs, medications, medical problems, and/or behavioral issues, please let me know how you would like me to proceed should the need arise. It is also very important that I know your dog's routine, actual level of exercise, if your dog marks outside or inside, if your dog is aggressively protective of you or anything else. If you are training your dog, I can keep that going. Just let me know your technique and regimen. I am experienced with prong and eCollars. You can find every type of pet sitter on Rover. Please make sure you choose the right one for your dog. If your dog does not occasionally visit other dogs' territories, and they exhibit alpha behavior, are not leash trained, and/or they are destructive chewers, a better fit is someone with a kennel-like set up and a fenced yard. If your dog is protective or aggressive, a better fit is a sitter with no children or other pets present. We pet sit because we love animals. We all want what is best for your pet. Please make sure you update your dog's profile with vet contact, shot records, and emergency contact information.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
