Pet care experience
At-Home FT Animal Lover
I have had family dogs and cats for over 15 years, have had my own dog for 6 years and a pair of rats and hamsters, and have worked professionally in an animal shelter in Kansas where we provided care for dogs and cats of all ages (newborn to end of life) and special care for those with special needs as well as boarding for animals with owners needing a trusted provider to care for their animals while they’re unavailable. I often pet sit for family and friends and I am mostly always at home.

This is the second time Miriam has watched our pup and she did a fantastic job caring for him!

I am so happy to have Miriam as someone that I can trust with my dog, Roxy, for anything that comes up. I am active duty military so I have trainings or cannot take Roxy to appointments sometimes. Miriam is always accommodating to what I need and Roxy loves her! So I can feel at ease knowing she is takinf great care of Roxy and that Roxy is with someone she feels safe with. Thank you Miriam!

Miriam is truly a one of a kind amazing person to care for your beloved animals. I could tell she was going to be good but she went far past any expectation. It is clear she just genuinely cares about animals and has a big heart. Before I even accepted her as my pet sitter, she responded with a list of follow up questions to ensure she could take proper care of my senior dog, Roxy. Roxy has meds, a special diet, and needs to be walked often due to incontinence issues. Miriam communicated with me consistently with pictures, videos and detailed updates, even though her stay was longer than a month, she sent them at least twice a week. At the beginning it was everyday and then (understandably!) She communicated that they would be less often after a week of updating every day. Which makes sense but she ensured to communicate that with me which was appreciated. She updated me on accidents Roxy had correlated to her health issues so I knew if anything was worsening. She offered to take her to her vet visits. And the real kicker is that she gave my Roxy some gifts when she left! I have a feeling this is due to how long Roxys stay was. She got her a harness and a leash that fit better than she has now, a cute new collar and new toy! Miriam is truly dedicated to giving your dog the kind of care that you would. Thank you so much for being you Miriam, you rock!

Miriam was fantastic in keeping us updated. Our dog was obviously happy and in good spirits upon pickup. We were grateful for her keeping our dog for the week. Great care overall.

Miriam was amazing. We need a last minute dog sitter during a holiday weekend and she was quick to respond. While she had our puppy she was very communicative and sent lots of pictures. 10/10 would highly recommend!

Miriam was very helpful in taking care of my dog while we were in town and in need of a sitter. She took good care of my dog and adapted to his needs during his stay. He got plenty of time outside and she was attentive to his food and water intake.

Schedule
I currently stay at home. I have my own dog, my corgi. As well as my 2-year old son, loves our dog and has done well with other dogs that have stayed with us. I have a walking trail behind my apartment so we frequently gear up and go on walks around the neighborhood, although we also enjoy days in — just depends on what we feel like doing that day. I have plenty of time to give scheduled medication or food or exercise or diaper changes if needed for pets.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Apartment living so no yard but yes to two closed-off balconies that would be available for pets to use to look out and relax at while staying with us, also walking trail in the back and a fenced-in dog park in our apartment complex. When inside — which will be the case unless owner wants otherwise such as indoor/outdoor use of the balcony, pets are allowed in all areas of the house unless closed off to my own son but usually wherever my dog is allowed any pet is allowed, also allowed on beds and couches but not counters or tables (pet will be redirected no big deal). Water is available all day, I do not leave food out for my own dog but have an area your pet can stay at if needing a longer time to eat any meals given, if pet is a grazer that can be accommodated for as well. If a bath is needed due to accidents it will be given if pet is friendly and allows me to bathe them. I will also work with pets that aren’t spayed/neutered since my own dog is spayed but will ensure no female or male is being taken care of by me unless one is fixed or they’re all males/all females being taken care of that day. I will mostly be seeing small-medium sized dogs for pet sitting.
Pets
A typical day
There are tons of toys available, both soft and durable. Walks are a given, there is area around the apartment complex where we can walk that’s more private as well as the public walking trail we visit often. I will often open my balcony doors to allow my own dog to walk in and out as she pleases. We will spend lots of time watching TV together or listening to music. During my son’s nap time it’s usually pet time and that just means cuddles on the couch or the floor for my dog/your pet.
- Cats0 to 15 lbs16 to 40 lbsMiriam can host up to 3 pets per night
- Any specific needs, such as medications or do they wear diapers or special leashes/harness, do they wear muzzles when on walks. Is there any behavioral habits that I should be on the look out for when they are getting anxious or stressed out while on walks or when around other people/pets. Do they get along with other pets and also with children? If needed to be separated it can be accommodated so better to know beforehand. If there is anything I could know that will help your pet have the best time with me please let me know when we discuss setting up care, I will try my best to accommodate for them.
