Safety, trust & environment

At Pepper's, I administer medications to 20+ dogs every week, pills, eye drops, insulin shots, you name it. I'm no stranger to meds. The pups there receive around the clock care, meals, and love, and I work alongside a vet team daily with training in emergencies, first aid, CPR, and behavioral challenges. At home, my own medically compromised pup, Stubby Chubby, keeps me on my toes too so the care doesn't stop when I clock out. What I do is hard work, but I love every minute of it and wouldn't ask to be doing anything else.

Pet care experience

I spend my days providing hospice care at Pepper's Senior Dog Sanctuary, so I know how precious every moment with your pup is. With 6 years of experience including daycare management, dog training, and medical care (CPR, first aid, and triage). I'm equipped to handle puppies, seniors, and pups with diabetes or epilepsy and many more conditions. I use only positive reinforcement and treat every dog like family. My availability: Open Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays; Thursdays after 12 PM. (I work 12-hour shifts Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, so I'm unavailable those days unless you need late night or early morning care) I have my own pride and joy, Stubby Chubby, who keeps me company on my days off, but he prefers to be the only dog, so I don't offer in-home services. Instead, I'll come to you and treat your home like it's my own (but better, because I'll leave it cleaner than I found it!). Your dog's safety, comfort, and joy are my top priority. Have questions? Feel free to reach out about my schedule, experience, care approach, or anything else I'm happy to chat and make sure we're the perfect fit for your pup!

I'm Nick Ortega and I am Miranda's older brother. Miranda and I haven't worked together in a professional environment but I can say that she is very reliable, compassionate and selfless. She is someone I know I can count on if I need help with anything, especially babysitting my small Chihuahua when I travel for work. From the time Miranda was very young she was always drawn to animals and insects and vice versa. I think on a spiritual level these living creatures know that she is someone they can trust. I think they can sense the loving light that is present within her. She's the only person that I've seen butterflies willingly land on her. From what I've seen, Miranda is a committed and loyal employee. There have been a number of times where we had plans to go out for dinner or a movie and she had to cancel with me because she voluntarily decided to cover a fellow employee's shift. At her former job she quickly moved up the ranks into management. She is very good at following instructions, delegating tasks and taking initiative when necessary. I've watched Miranda grow and overcome many obstacles throughout her life. One of her more impressive feats was finding her independence at a young age. She had a full time job and her own apartment shortly after graduating high school. She is one of the strongest people I know. She is brave and willingly takes on challenges regardless of how daunting and uncertain things may be. We lost our mother to cancer when Miranda was 3 years old but I am constantly reminded of my mothers strength and tenacity which are key features they both share. My mother and I were both in the Marine Corps and are natural born leaders. Miranda wasn't in the military but she is also a natural leader. Her leadership style is more lighthearted and easy going which is perpetuated by positive reinforcement. I'm sure she could be more stern and direct if needed but I don't think it's ever necessary with her. If the work I did involved caring for animals or animals in any capacity, I'd hire her in a heartbeat. I've seriously considered finding a place for her within the company I work for but I don't want to steer her away from her natural calling which is working with and caring for animals, especially dogs!

Miranda was my manager at doggie daycare for years. We worked together caring for dogs of all ages and dispositions. Not only was she an excellent leader, but she cared more than anyone I've ever seen care for other people's pets. She is the first to take action in emergencies, and she has a comprehensive understanding of dog behavior, body language, and health. I trust her personally with my own dog now, and I highly recommend her for any sort of pet caring opportunity. You would be hard pressed to find anyone better.

Miranda works with me at Pepper's Senior Dog Sanctuary. She is very loving and attentive in her care for the complicated dogs at the sanctuary. Her specialized training and attention to detail with high-needs dogs make her perfect for caring for any pet's needs. 10/10 would recommend.
