Pet care experience

Animal Rescue Founder and Foster

In 2008, I began fostering dogs for a local Great Pyrenees rescue in Indiana. In 2010, I founded my own non-profit animal rescue which helped animals and kids through reading. 150 cats and dogs were rescued and adopted, and hundreds of children read to the volunteers' dogs to improve their literacy. Of the 150 rescued animals, approximately 30 were kittens. The non-profit dissolved in 2016, but I continued to foster for other rescues. I am experienced with cats, kittens, puppies, senior dogs, dog training, crate training, obedience training, leash training, aggressive dogs, and fearful dogs. I do not breed discriminate and am familiar with many dog breeds, I am also adept at giving medications, shots, and attending to special needs. I have my own fur baby which consists of a rescued Great Pyrenees.

Carolina absolutely LOVES Miss Miranda! When we pull up in the driveway, she can hardly wait to get inside and play! She sends videoed and photos through the day and gives us great eating and playing updates on the River card! I absolutely recommend her! Thank you!

Miranda is great with our dog, Pani loves to go, it's like summer camp for her. We not only get regular videos of our dog, but some helpful training tips.

Miranda does a great job at taking care of our dogs while we are away. Now having watched all 3 who have completely different personalities, she adjusts and works with each as they need and makes them comfortable and at home.

Miranda is excellent to work with! I’m very happy to have her watch my pup. Her passion and love of animals is clear and she has great systems in place to keep the dogs happy & safe.

Schedule

I am pet sitting full time and also teach craft workshops, so please know that if I board or provide day care that I MOST LIKELY WILL BE GONE FROM 11 AM- 2 PM each weekday for walks. In addition, I may have workshops to teach at random times in the day or evening and will be gone for 4 hours max. For dogs, I can do drop- ins, walks, and daycare from 6 AM - 11 pm. I limit travel time to 20 minutes or less one way. I also board dogs and cats and limit boarding to 3-4 dogs at a time with safety being my key priority.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a 6 foot privacy fence in my back yard and live in a quiet cul-de-sac. There are two gates and rooms in my house to keep any dogs or cats separated, and I have crates, as needed. I can easily rotate dogs inside and outside. My Great Pyrenees is fine being by himself inside or outside if other pets are at my house.

Pets

A typical day

With the dogs, we can play fetch, play with other dogs, run around in the yard, and do mental stimulation exercises, such as commands. With the cats, we can play with toys, pet them, let them sit in my lap (if they are lap cats), and just give them affection and play time.

I would prefer to meet any dogs ahead of time with the owner so there is a proper introduction. I would like to know of any special dietary needs, any triggers, dislikes and likes, any physical issues (arthritis,...), if the dogs get along with other dogs, and any other circumstances in order to keep everyone safe.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
