I love going for walks and hiking! The outdoors are so beautiful and even more lovely when you get to share them with a pet. Early morning walks are my personal favorite. Pet visits also work well in my schedule. I don't mind stopping by to let a pet out, feed, clean, and provide enrichment. I love reading and am happy to hang out with pets outside while I do so.

Clear communication and meeting the needs of the client are the most important pieces to pet care to me. I like to take notes about expectations and routines, such as feeding or play time, that way I can provide pets with the most consistency and familiarity I can. I like to update folks about their pets by sending photos and messages. And I keep my phone nearby with notifications on throughout my time so that I am available if folks have any questions, concerns, or are just missing their pet and would like a picture!
Information Miles E. would like to know about your pet
I find temperament, medication, and other special things important to know ahead of time. For example if a dog is skiddish or defensive, I'd love to know so that I can find the best way to greet them without it being a stressful experience! If they have any medical needs or specific needs/habits, I'd also love to know. For example, my cat always gets energetic right before and after he eats, so I try to be available to play during those times. Any information that will help you and your pet to feel happier, healthier, and safer, I want to know!
A typical day
I like to start by greeting your pet, reading their behavior and giving them pats and praise if that is something they enjoy. I take a moment to spend time with them so we can both be comfortable with each other before I start on other caregiving activities. I then feed your pet, or if they're a dog I will take them out to the bathroom first, usually picking things or cleaning up while they eat. I usually hang out with pets afterwards by playing or just spending quality time in their presence. For dogs, halfway through the day I will come back and take them for a walk! I usually walk 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the dog. Then for the evening visit, I take them to the bathroom, feed them, and spend some more time with them before bed. This definitely varies depending on the species! But I love spending quality time with cats as well. My cat is a social lap cat and needs lots of love and attention, so I promise I am equipped to handle your lovey (or not so lovey) pets as well.

Pet care experience
I’ve been pet sitting alone for about 8 years now! Friends, neighbors, and other folks have relied on me to feed and walk their pets as well as house sit. I’ve worked with cats, dogs, almost all domestic farm species, amphibians, reptiles, and fish. I’ve just graduated UVM with an Animal Science degree, where I’ve taken helpful classes such as Intro To Exotic Pet Care class and Canine Behavior where I trained local shelter dogs. Through my studies, I’ve learned about nutrition, anatomy, welfare, husbandry, and diseases/ailments for many species. I’ve worked with a lot of senior animals who have a variety of backgrounds at a farm sanctuary, so I’m comfortable working with pets with special needs. I’ve also been working as an ICH Tech at an equine clinic so I am comfortable with medications such as injections as well. I love talking about my experience and am happy to answer any questions people may have!

ABOVE AND BEYOND! We love our baby boy just like every other dog parent. So with that it’s always hard leaving them for a long weekend. Miles made us feel relaxed and at peace knowing our Jack was happy. At first Jack was a handful but Miles took the time to make sure Jack felt comfortable. They ended up being great buddies! I’m so happy Jack had such a caring person watching him♥️
Miles was an excellent dog sitter. Our dog Indy dog thrived under Miles’s care… As a bonus Miles also watered our outdoor plants in the summer. I would recommend Miles for any dog sitting needs. All around a wonderful experience.
I highly recommend Miles for all pet care needs! He is responsible, punctual and reliable. Most importantly, he is a true animal lover! He provides excellent care for my senior dog and cat. I feel completely comfortable knowing that all of my pets’ needs are being met when they are in his care.
Miles seems to have a natural ability to connect with animals. He has cared for my dog, two cats, multiple friends dogs and we have never been disappointed!
