My schedule is very flexible this summer! I am currently working part-time and participating in some veterinary shadowing experiences, but outside of that I have wide availability for pet care. I am available most weekends and have flexibility throughout the week, especially during mornings and evenings. I’m happy to work with owners to find times that best fit their pet’s routine and needs.

As a veterinary student, I have experience recognizing signs of stress, illness, and discomfort in animals and understand the importance of careful, attentive care. Before caring for your pet, I would love to know about their normal routine, personality, favorite activities, and anything that helps them feel most comfortable. I also appreciate knowing about any medical conditions, medications, dietary restrictions, allergies, fears/triggers, or behavioral quirks ahead of time so I can provide the best possible care. For dogs, it’s helpful to know how they do on walks, around other animals, visitors, loud noises, or when left alone. For cats, I like to know about hiding spots, litter box routines, and how they typically respond to new people. The more I know about your pet beforehand, the better I can make their experience safe, low-stress, and enjoyable while you’re away!
A typical day
A typical day with me is centered around making your pet feel comfortable, safe, and loved while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible. Depending on your pet’s personality and needs, this may include walks, playtime, enrichment activities, feeding, cuddle time, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I understand that every pet is different—some pets love lots of activity and interaction, while others prefer a calmer environment and patience while they warm up. I always adapt my care to what makes your pet happiest and most comfortable. As a veterinary student, I also pay close attention to behavior, appetite, energy levels, and overall well-being so owners can feel confident their pet is in attentive and capable hands. I also make communication a priority and love sending updates and photos so you can see how your pet is doing while you’re away!

As a rising third-year veterinary student at the University of Illinois, I bring both professional training and genuine love for animals to every pet I care for. Through my veterinary education and hands-on clinical experience, I have worked with animals of many breeds, sizes, ages, energy levels, and temperaments—including shy, anxious, high-energy, and senior pets. My experience has taught me how to safely handle animals, recognize signs of stress or illness, and adapt my approach to each pet’s individual personality and needs. I had the absolute pleasure of having Mikaela stop by and care for my cats while my husband and I were away, and I truly can’t say enough wonderful things about the experience! She spent quality time with them, made sure their food and water were taken care of, gave them plenty of attention and cuddles, and kept me updated on how they were doing. When we arrived home late that evening, it was obvious how happy, relaxed, and well cared for they had been.
