Pet care experience
Reliable & honest pet care
When I moved into my house in 2018, one of my first priorities was to get a dog. Recently, Addie, who spent the past 7 years with me, had to be put down unexpectedly. I miss her a ton, and I would love to open my home to another dog (the yard just calls out for it), but I am unable to adopt at the moment for logistical/financial reasons. I would love for your pets and I to keep each other company while I work from home during the day! I am a diligent and reliable person who works remotely as a paralegal, so I always need excuses (whether walks, play, food, snuggles, or just potty breaks) to get up from my desk and move at intervals throughout the work day. I love animals of all kinds - in addition to my own dog, I can submit my friends' pets as references (Mildred the cat likes me better than her owner's wife, and Maggie the dog is obsessed with me while spurning every other friend her owners have). I'm also a birdwatcher and a huge fan of all the wildlife in my yard, from bunnies to lizards. My dog training and medical/senior pet care skills are limited, but I am open to learning and strongly attentive to detail - I will be sure to give your pet what they need.

Michelle was great taking care of my old boy

Our dog, Maddie, loved staying with Michelle. Michelle would send pictures of how she was doing. It was my first time leaving my dog since getting her. I felt very comfortable having her there for the week knowing she was being cared for so well.
Michelle took great care of Florence. Michelle provided updates and pictures of Florence during her stay. Thank you so much for watching Florence.

Michelle was great with my dogs. Maggie, the miniature dachshund can be stand-offish and aloof and Michelle won her over nicely!

I would absolutely recommend Michelle x1000 for pet care. They are so great with my three kitties, who all adore them. One of my cats, Mildred, is VERY PICKY about the people she trusts, but Michelle is one of the select few and it's so cool to see her purring away on Michelle's lap. Beyond that, Michelle is one of the most solid and reliable and thoughtful people I know. I would trust their judgment on anything.
Michelle is one of the kindest and most caring people I know, and my dog absolutely adores her. She’s watched her for me several times, and every time Michelle walks through the door, my dog starts going crazy. I never have to worry when she’s in Michelle’s care—I know she’ll get plenty of love, attention, and fun. Michelle’s an avid birder and a true nature lover, and that gentle, patient spirit comes through in the way she treats all animals. I wouldn't hesitate to leave my cat or dog with her again. Definitely recommend.

I work from home during the week, with approximate hours of 7 am - 4 pm M-F. On Tuesdays I have appointments in the afternoons, so I will not be available for day care that day. Weekend availability will depend on my plans.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I don't have any pets at home currently. I have a screened-in patio with a dog door leading to the fenced-in backyard. When the weather is nice (not too hot), I like to work in the patio. The yard backs onto a wash, so there is a lot of wildlife in the area. Javelinas and coyotes frequent the area but cannot get into the yard. I have seen two rattlesnakes in the yard in 7 years of living here. I would not leave small/medium dogs or cats outside unsupervised. If you give permission, I would feel comfortable leaving large dogs who are snake trained outside while I'm in the house (as I often did with my 80 lb golden doodle).
A typical day
There are tons of outdoor activities to do around my home - besides playing in the yard, there are a plethora of options for walks/hikes, including around the neighborhood, in the wash behind the house, or at nearby Greasewood Park or Painted Hills. When it is too hot to be outside, we'll do periodic indoor games, including tug of war, chasing each other/the laser pointer/the ball/the feather toy, yoga, and wrestling. My floors are tile, but I have mats to put down for indoor running play or just for dogs that struggle with slippery floors!
