Pet care experience

(Past job) Vet Assistant loves dogs

I focus on positive reinforcement with training and am comfortable starting or continuing training routines as needed. I am comfortable giving medications - vetsulin, pills, injectables, glucose readings, nail trims, etc. I love dogs! I was originally interested in pursuing a career as a veterinarian. I have a B.S. in Animal Science and Management from UC Davis. I have worked part time for 3 years at a doggie boarding company. I have worked as a veterinary assistant part time for 3 years as well. I worked for about 6 months total with sleddogs in Alaska. That experience involved very comprehensive dog care. I would love to watch your dog or cat - Rover is an opportunity for me to get more animal time. I am an avid runner and frequent dog park attendee, so I can dog sit very active or less active dogs.

Michelle did a fantastic job with our two boys (93 lb golden retriever and a mini dachshund) while she house sat for us. She spent a lot of quality time and even taught them some new games (hide and seek) and made sure they were engaged with sniffing walks. She struck a great balance between our two dogs by being engaged (with our friendly golden) and gave our mini dachshund some time to warm up to her which he ultimately did even though he is very timid around new people. She was communicative, provided daily updates, and even had great questions for us that we hadn't thought of before the job started. We're already started working to get her scheduled for our next trip!

Excellent experience. Michelle is conscientious, accommodating and a great communicator. She was able to handle our large GSP on a walk and even took him for a run. Highly recommend.

Pets

A typical day

I live by the beach with a one year old Border Collie so we can cater experienced to fit our guest! We frequently go to Mori Point, local dog parks, Fort Funston, ocean beach, Stern Grove or Golden Gate Park for walks and playtime. I also enjoy running, so we do a fair amount of street running or walking.

Let me know if your dog has any special needs which I can help provide for. Its helpful to know what your pet is reactive to so that I can mitigate negative interactions. I am happy to start or continue training routines during my stay.
