Michelle can care for
Availability
As a high school counselor, I’m available for drop-ins, walks, crate breaks, and playtime all summer long. If you have a dog or cat who needs a crate break during the day or you just want to have some company or exercise before you get home from work, I’m here for that.

I will love on your pets and give them as much attention, play, walks, cuddles, and fun as they want! If your pet is more of a recluse, I can be there for company and to take care of them, while fully respecting their personality. I will follow your directions specifically, because I know how important it is to maintain diet, house rules, meal schedules, bathroom routines, and medication times for a pet’s health and well-being. I prefer to watch pets in their homes because after having a dog, I understand how much less stress it is for them. I’ll take daily pictures (at least) and ask what time of day is best for you to receive them (especially if you’re in a different time zone). I’m happy to watch pets recovering from surgery too, as long as there are clear instructions. This was a challenge I experienced when my dog had surgery and I had to go to work, so I’d be happy to fill that need.
Information Michelle B. would like to know about your pet
My goal is to replicate your dog’s routine to provide them with as much consistency as possible. Please let me know your pet’s routines. Please also let me know if your dog or cat has specific needs or if there are things I should know that would help me take even better care of them. Do they have any residual pain from past surgeries to monitor? Do they have any medical concerns? Are there behaviors they display that I should be aware of? Are there any behaviors they may try to get away with that I should try to stop? Does their best friend live in the area where we might end up crossing paths on a walk? Is there a dog in the neighborhood they don’t get along with? Is there a part of their body they don’t like to be touched? Is there a part of their body they absolutely love to have scratched/rubbed/massaged/pet etc.?
A typical day
I love trying to wear pets out with play, so I’m rarely the one who stops throwing the ball, tugging on the toy, or dragging the string during playtime. Usually, the dog or cat gives up long before I do (my dog used to fall asleep with the toy still in his mouth). I also enjoy taking dogs on slower “sniff” walks, because I know how much smelling and tracking on a walk can stimulate their brains and release endorphins for them. I love watching animals use their brains and experience the world! I can take your dog to and from grooming you’ve paid for, to get a special treat like grilled chicken nuggets or a pup cup, or you can suggest things that may be fun for your best friend. If there’s something they absolutely love, I’d like to know about it so if it’s possible, I can make it happen! My days usually end with cuddling on the couch together, watching tv.

Pet care experience
I’m back on Rover for summer break 2026. I’ve taken care of cats and dogs (and fish) since I was a teenager, and had a beloved dog for 13 years who passed away in 2023. I have since adopted a wild little puppy, which is why I can’t do overnights anymore. If drop-ins work for you instead, contact me for a flat daily rate instead of paying for each drop-in. I have volunteered at the humane society and often watch my friends’ pets when they go out of town. I also took care of my dog through multiple knees surgeries and two different types of cancer. I love being able to take care of animals in their own homes, where they feel most comfortable and know their families will be back soon.
Reviews

Michelle was amazing!! We had never used rover before and were nervous about leaving our furbabies for such a long time this summer. Michelle met with us before we left to get information from us and for a meet and greet. She sent tons of pictures and updates while we were gone and truly made us feel like our dog and cat were in the best of hands. Thank you so much Michelle!
Michelle has great experience with cats and dogs. She has taken care of our two old kitties many times and is a true dog lover. She is responsible and would do a wonderful job caring for your animals!
Michelle is a warm, kindhearted person, and is absolutely awesome with pets. Her love, compassion, and joy when playing with dogs is palpable, and she views pets as family members, not just animals in a home. I’ve known Michelle for years, and she’s the only nonrelative who I trust to watch my dog, Bo. Bo is a 75lb ball of energy, who comes with a long list of special needs. He has allergies, takes medication daily, has had several teeth extracted so you can’t play tug-o-war with him when he tries to engage you, exerts dominance when in the presence of other animals, and isn’t allowed to have “people food” or go on furniture. Most challengingly, Bo destroys toys at a rapid rate and swallows/eats the parts of the toys as he destroys them (which has led to two major surgeries to remove the foreign objects from his intestine). So, he can only have specific toys and must be monitored when playing with them. Michelle is amazing with Bo and handles all of this with ease. She is able to meet all of his needs (and my requests), plays with him, conscious of his teeth and toy issues, and she loves on him. Michelle is one of Bo’s favorite people and he is beyond excited when he gets to see her. Going away is often stressful for me because of making arrangements for Bo. When Michelle takes care of him, I don’t have to worry about who is going in/out of my house, and I don’t have to worry about Bo eating something he shouldn’t, or escaping, which is my biggest fear (he has doggie hearing loss and he can’t track sounds, so if he’s lost outside, he can’t follow the sound of your voice to return to you). I know Bo is being cared for like he’s part of her family, and I know he’s having the best time. Michelle is a great person, an amazing animal lover and caregiver, and I cannot recommend her enough to spend time with your furry loved one!
