ER Veterinarian turned artist

I was a small animal emergency veterinarian for nearly a decade. I have 20 years of veterinary experience and nearly 40 years of loving dogs. I retired 10 years ago to explore my other interests. Now I am a full-time ceramic artist. If you are curious, my website is yugenarts dot com Extensive animal and medical experience: Because of my previous career, I am very comfortable administering medications with complicated schedules or needles. I know CPR and first aid, and am a keen observer of your pet's general health, condition and well-being. CATS: I do drop-ins for cats. If your cat requires twice daily visits, you will need to be within 1 mile of my home. Weekend visits (Sat and Sun) are $30. If you have any questions or want to discuss your pet's special needs, please message me! Why I love dog sitting I have been a dog lover my entire life! I have nearly 20 years of veterinary experience. 10 as a vet assistant and vet student. And another 10 as an emergency veterinarian. I currently have one sweet smarty-pants Papillon mix and have had many dogs who I considered to be my furry children. My experience administering medication My previous experience as a small animal emergency veterinarian makes me very comfortable administering medications with complicated schedules or involving needles. If you feel your pet may require more than one person to help medicate, please email me to discuss.

Safety, trust & environment

I err on the side of extra safety. Even if your dog is friendly, I avoid interacting with other dogs, just in case the other dog is not friendly. Dogs will remain on leash during our walks.

We love having Michele on hand for walks, she's always on time, and a great communicator! My dog can be very opinionated on where he wants to walk, if he isn't in the mood for a long walk she'll play with him in the yard so he still gets his exercise.

Schedule

I am generally available 9am-4pm with occasional exceptions in the early morning or late afternoon. It is helpful to provide a 2 hour timespan that works for your pet so that I know if they will work with my schedule of regular clients. I am more likely to be able to accommodate an intermittent need if your visits are outside of the hours of 11a-2p and you are able to provide some advanced notice (avoid same day or day before requests).

Cats
0 to 15 lbs
16 to 40 lbs
41 to 100 lbs
over 101 lbs
Michele can host up to 4 drop-ins per day
If you feel your dog will require special care for their behavior like potty issues, aggression to other dogs or people, fearful or sensitive about certain sights or sounds, please let me know. I am also open to doing whatever training was recommended to you by a trainer so that they can have some consistent training while on our walks. Situations where we may not be a good fit: If you have a very big strong dog who pulls, we may not be a good fit as I am not much heavier than a big dog! If you have a dog who is so energetic that they need to jog/run. I do not jog and I do not allow dogs offleash. You have any concern that your dog may bite me.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
