Michaelah seemed responsive and nice when booking/meeting her. We booked her for overnight house sitting in our home for Friday AM-Monday PM for our 17 week old puppy. The first red flag is that Friday AM, she wasn’t awake/communicating with us at the time the house sitting was supposed to start. We were late getting on the road for a trip and I texted her and said we were running late, no big deal on either part. But she didn’t text back for almost an hour after the original house sitting time agreement. She came and met us to grab keys and hung out with our puppy etc. everything was good. We left very detailed care instructions for our puppy Cleo. Everything seemed fine until Saturday night, we were checking pet camera and haven’t heard any updates since the morning and we noticed Cleo was in her pen with food and water for several hours by herself. At 9:18pm, we were checking our pet camera a few times to check on puppy and saw Michaelah brought 2 strangers into our home. We took screenshots. We saw her leave to take pup out with the 2 strangers and figured all was fine, just a quick “say hi to this cute puppy” and leave. Still disrespectful as we didn’t authorize any extra guests, and she didn’t ask either. We logged off the camera app because we were busy at the moment. Shortly after, the camera “disconnected”. At this point, we are 9 hours away from our house, have no idea if these 2 strangers or more are in our house, they truly could have robbed us dry and we would have no idea. We stayed quiet about it because we didn’t want her to retaliate and neglect caring for our puppy or plain leave our puppy alone. The camera was disconnected for the rest of the stay until we arrived back home, it was magically connected again - even though we didn’t do a single thing to reconnect it. It’s obvious that she purposely unplugged it. Additionally, the camera was in the living room pointed at our puppy playpen - not an inappropriate area etc. Anyway, we get home and things seem fine. I go into the bathroom and it smells like a mix of alcohol and vomit. There were brown/red splatters on the wall and ceiling of the bathroom and in the shower, and on shower curtain. The toilet was also really dirty and we just cleaned it 4 days ago. I can only assume she turned off the camera and threw a party and someone threw up in the bathroom and didn’t even properly clean up the evidence. It’s also obvious she didn’t pay very close attention to our pup Cleo because Cleo peed on her cot twice in her playpen and Cleo is very well trained to bark if she needs to potty when she is contained AND she is very deliberate in ringing the potty bells on the front door. She hasn’t had an accident in over 2 weeks, and doesn’t have them frequently anyway. Our puppy was seemingly healthy and happy when we arrived back home. She washed sheets and towels that she used. Michaelah needs to realize that she is being booked for a service and she has a job to do that she is being paid to do, this isn’t an Airbnb free for all. TLDR: Michaelah was *fine* puppy sitting, we returned to an alive and present dog (not lost/run away), but she disrespected our home, brought strangers in, unplugged camera, and didn’t follow our rules to care for our puppy. If you want someone to do the bare minimum and return to a dog that is alive and not lost, likely throw a party in your home, invite random strangers over, leave your bathroom smelling like a frat house, then she is your girl. Wild.
