A very sub-standard, disappointing, and unwelcome buyer’s experience. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As Rover.com proudly states in their marketing materials “Review and approval of sitters and dog walkers ultimately centers around the question, “Do we believe dog owners will have a great experience with this sitter or dog walker?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We are long-term owners of multiple pets and we have used many dog sitters before. Michaela C. (hereinafter referred to as the Sitter) did a drop-in pet sitting service for our two dogs while we were out of town for just two nights. We would advise you to review the following information before you make your buying decision. We had met the sitter for the very first time in our lives during the “meet and greet”, which took approximately 15 minutes. Despite knowing when we would be back home, we were very disappointed upon our return to see that the inside and outside water bowls for our dogs were completely empty. That was an unwelcome surprise. Would providing water not be one of the key elements a pet sitter would take care of? Next came the simple act of getting our house key returned. This was handled in an absolutely horrible manner. The sitter did not give us advance notice that very shortly after our return home they would be out of town for two weeks. Then, as our messages were not being returned, we surmised that the sitter had actually left town for two weeks! Where was our house key? Was there no ‘plan B” on the sitter’s part? Was there really no trustworthy means to get this key back to the homeowners? We were left with a strong feeling of concern for our own safety and security. Now, our house key is who knows where and with who knows who? Very disquieting. At that point, with no other messages, we waited. 14 days came and went. With no other messages from the sitter and when it got to be 20 days since the assignment ended, we called the Rover.com support number and let them know we wanted our house kay returned within 24 hours. With no notification to that effect, the house key was just tossed into our mailbox. Disappointing, very uncaring, and unprofessional, besides being very insecure. We were left with no reasonable alternative option than to pay to have our whole house keyed. This cost right around as much as we had paid for our original Rover.com sitting fees. That concluded our very prolonged buying experience. So, “Do we believe dog owners will have a great experience with this sitter or dog walker?” – we will leave you to decide that. Be very cautious.
