Dog boarding with exercise.
I trained my lab well enough to be allowed to accompany me on backcountry ranger patrols (USFS). He could follow hand signals from about 100 meters away (sit, down, come, rollover). I cared for other dogs of friends and family, and I especially enjoy hiking with dogs, whether in the mountains or locally at places like Discovery Park.

Our dog could be considered by some as too energetic. But with Michael, our Lucie could not have had more fun, and we could tell Michael genuinely loved Lucie’s company. Over a three day weekend they must have walked over 25miles!

Schedule
I am a part time teacher, and I use my extra time to do a lot of outdoor exercise. I routinely do 10 miles of trekking per day on average. I don’t go fast and let the dog take plenty of breaks as needed, or allow them to sniff around and explore. I’m used to crate training and reward training. If your dog has a lot of energy, then this is better for me as I am outside as much as possible.

I mostly have experience with dogs who are trained and just like a companion nearby when resting inside, and of course the water bowl is always filled and food is given routinely as required. I have a decent size backyard, but mostly I find dogs like to just do their business outside and then be near me inside again. Most of the dogs I’ve cared for are companion dogs and not pack dogs, so I am mostly one on one with them when playing (retrieving or search games).
A typical day
I live across from a nice park that is good for retrieving, and I am an avid hiker/jogger and know many nice dog walking routes.
