I built him a pen in the laundry room — and slept in there with him for weeks, just to keep him company. That was the start of it. Since then, I've owned and raised about a dozen German Shepherd Dogs, and I've trained dozens of dogs over the years for myself, friends, and family. Today my pack is three: my two German Shepherd Dogs; Ella (10) and Sadie (8), my Belgian Malinois, Mila (2.5). Living with working breeds has shaped how I think about exercise — it's not about wearing a dog out until they're panting. It's about engaging their mind as much as their body.
