Responsible, dog-loving post-grad
We got our family dog when I was 11 years old. He was a Welsh Springer Spaniel named Gusty. My sister and I were really involved in his upbringing, his training, his walking, and all aspects of his life. Our parents expected us to be very involved in looking after him. He was a huge part of our lives. I loved looking after him when he was a puppy and also watching him grow up when he became an old guy. Even when away from home during college, I still looked to have dogs in my life. One of my college roommates had a dog that I would look after when he was away for weekends. She is an Australian Shepard. He once told me he would ask me to watch her because I never forgot her schedule. I am very diligent with feed and walk times, and always make sure the dogs I am with get lots of attention, which is very important when their owners are away. With my own dog, I had experience ranging from the everyday walks and weekend caretaking to visits to the vet and bathing. I would love the opportunity to look after your dog and help him or her feel comfortable with me looking after him for a walk, a day or several days.

Hi all potential doggie clients - Michael, my son, is a super sweet, kind, patient, responsible young man who will take really good care of your dog. Most of his experience has been looking after our family dog from puppy to old guy. He was really involved in all aspects of our dog’s life. We took turns to feed, walk and look after Gus. Michael would look after him when I was traveling or coming home late. He’s also helped out looking after friends’ dogs when they need walking or dog sitting. He’s building a career working with kids and sports and has flexibility in his schedule to help look after other people’s dogs. He is a wonderful caregiver and you’ll enjoy working work him.

Schedule
I am currently working as an assistant basketball coach at a K-12 private school in Manhattan. My passion is teaching sports to kids. I am responsible, kind, and patient, and I believe that this carries over into my love for dogs. I work from home and have a lot of flexibility during the work week. i am also available most weekends. I know my schedule well ahead of time and can work with dog owners to plan weeks in advance. I am also available on weekends.

I share a spacious apartment with two roommates in Stuytown. It is a dog friendly building, but we don't have our own dogs. We love dogs and have looked after our friends' dogs frequently. Our apartment is very close to Stuyvesant Park and also Stuytown Park, which is a very pet-friendly neighborhood. My roommates and I are very active and enjoy getting outside for walks and runs.
A typical day
I would take your dog out for lots of fun walks. They can be as long or as short as works for your doggie. We can be social with other dogs or stay solo - again, based on what your dog is comfortable with. We can go to Stuyvesant Park or Stuytown Park. We can go to one of the dog playgrounds nearby. I can play fun games like fetch and tug of war in the apartment. We can cuddle and hang out in the apartment. My goal is to match your routine as closely as I can.
