I don't have pets in my own home. When house/pet sitting, besides feeding, walking and picking up after the pets I'm capable of handling household issues that might come up.

Walk, play with their favorite toys. Tug of war, fetch. Lots of scratching and snuggles. If staying overnight I follow the rules of the house with respect to the pets. If they want to be on the couch or bed with me, all the better. If they aren't allowed on the furniture, I won't be like a grandparent and teach them bad habits. If watching over a couple days, with the owner's permission, I can take them to local coffee shops or wineries to listen to music and work on socialization.

Over 20 years as a dog owner. I'm semi-retired. I've been watching friends' and friends of friends' pets for years. I've been the only house/dog sitter for a pair of Dalmatians for the last 5 years. I've handled puppies that are still working on becoming housebroken as well as senior dogs that need regular medication and extra care. I do in-home tech support/ IT work. When a customer's animals have warmed up to me, I've been asked if I did pet sitting as well. It feels good when the pet picks you.
Avis
Mike took good care of our two older dogs. They were happy and healthy apon our 5 day return and the house was great as we left it. He got packages from outside that werent supose to be delivered so that was great too. He showed up on time and stayed until our agreed upon touch down of flight very late the last night. Knowing he lives in the town we do also is nice. We will definitely get him to stay again if he's free next time we need a sitter. He even fixed our tv remote/sound bar connectivity issues. Michael has been watching my dogs for four years and he's wonderful. My dogs love him . He is very dependable . I have dalmatians that are high energy dogs and very needy. He walks them and gives them lots of attention. He treats my house like I do. When I come home It looks wonderful like I left it. Happy dogs and a Happy house. Jacqui
My cat Ollie was never wild about strangers but was purring on Michael's lap within an hour of their introduction. Michael has a gentle calming disposition and let Ollie come to him at his own speed. He's intelligent and mature and I always felt confident that he could handle anything weird that came up while I was away. He even managed to get Ollie to take his pills, something I was never any good at.
