Hi there! I’m an experienced pet sitter and outdoor enthusiast with a degree in wildlife biology. I’d love to meet your pet or pets and provide a caring, loving home while you’re away. Whether this means walking the dogs, grooming, playing or sitting with the cats, administering medicine, feeding the fish, or watering your beloved plants, I can do it. While you are away, I will treat your pets as my own. Rest assured, they will be lavished with the love and attention that they need! I have over 14 years of professional animal handling experience, though I've taken care of animals since I was a kid - primarily cats and our family dog, but also more exotic critters like birds, raccoons, and squirrels! My professional experience includes wildlife rehabilitation, vet assistance, and kennel work. I worked at the Pittsburgh Zoo for 10 years, providing animal care to a large range of species from reptiles to birds to bugs. I love all animals and can't wait to meet yours and let them feel cared for in any special way they need while you are away. Thank you for considering me!

Meriel was very loving and sweet with my dog, Honey. I got a lot of photos and updates throughout the day. I felt completely at ease while I was away that she was well cared for.
Meriel is very caring, a good communicator, and flexible with scheduling. Her rates are very fair and affordable. We were at ease leaving our puppy and our home in her care. We would book Meriel again!

Meriel’s great! She’s been a lifesaver for us several times. While our cat probably never even notices we’re gone, we have two small dogs that need a lot of attention throughout the day. We’ve tried having friends just stop by to walk and feed them a few times a day, but it’s never ideal and the pups are never happy about it. Meriel’s been able to house sit and give the dogs (and cat) the attention they need; it’s obvious she really loves animals. Also, we greatly enjoy the added security of knowing that our house has someone there at all times while we’re out of town. Cannot recommend her highly enough.

Schedule
I currently have a wide-open schedule, allowing lots of time for play and special attention to any specific care requirements. I am available for overnight care, walks during the week, but sorry no boarding at this time.

I am extremely responsible and attentive to detail - I understand that each individual animal requires different care and attention, and I am prepared to provide whatever they need. Whether they need medication, a long run, some peace and quiet, I will treat them with the love and respect they so rightly deserve!

A typical day
I would love to make your pup feel special, loved, and comfortable by taking them to their favorite places. Do they prefer a dog park to interact with other dogs, a certain route around your neighborhood, or the familiarity of your yard at home? I'd love to play fetch, let them splash in a creek on a hot day, and clean off before resting back at home. If there are places to take hikes nearby, I'd love that, too! If your pup prefers slow, steady, or has special needs, I am so happy to cater to them as well - we could all use time to slow down in this world.
