Pup's Staycation!

My husband, Justin, and I are genuine animal lovers. We both work from home and, with our flexible schedules, we give your pup plenty of attention in a calm, relaxed environment. We keep our home peaceful, clean, and welcoming—think of it as a little staycation for your fur baby :) I grew up with Weimaraners, Dachshunds, and Dobermans, and my dad trains hunting and service dogs, so positive reinforcement and good boundaries come naturally to me (not a professional trainer—just experienced). I’ve cared for a wide range of animals over the years. We share our home with two Mini Dachshunds—Niebo and Metztli—our gentle, playful Blue-Nose Pittie, Ko’ba, and Spirit, our kitten who loves dogs and even uses the doggy door. The dachshunds mostly lounge, Ko’ba is very social, and Spirit keeps to herself unless she feels curious. All are dog-friendly and used to guests. Our space has plenty to explore: a rock garden with a walking path, lots of plants to sniff, and a spacious indoor area for pups to relax. You’ll get daily photo or video updates. I also have experience with senior dogs and special-needs pups, including administering medication (oral or injections). Quick scheduling note: We work from home but also run a small gourmet mushroom business, so we occasionally step out for errands or deliveries. If my stepkid (18) isn’t available to stay with the dogs, they’re never left alone for more than about 3–4 hours. We also plan our day around your booked pickup/drop-off times, so if you need to adjust those, just let me know in advance.

Mereya has been great. I think my dog thinks she’s the one on vacation when she gets to go stay with her!

Mereya and Justin are great dog sitters. We are always afraid that Gracie our dog has so much fun visiting them that she will not want to come home. They always send us pictures so we can see what Gracie is doing, and have a nice yard for playing and sunbathing.

Schedule

We work from home Monday–Friday and have a large yard with a small doggie door (for small to medium dogs). My stepkid also helps care for the dogs when available. While we work from home, we also run a small business, so last-minute changes to pickup or drop-off times can affect our schedule. I also plan meetings around the requested times, so changes can sometimes interfere with my day. Otherwise, your pup will be well cared for, with plenty of outdoor time, relaxation, and attention! :) I just ask that we communicate clearly and respect the original times, though I understand that not everything is within our control. We’re available most weekends and holidays.

Safety, trust & environment

I genuinely care for all animals and am intuitive to their needs and comfort levels. I take steps to keep dogs relaxed—like feeding separately when needed—and rarely book more than 2–3 dogs at a time to avoid stress. Bookings depend on size, age, and special needs, so I may accept more small dogs but might respectfully decline if a dog with special needs is already in care. I also have a degree in Psychology and experience supporting individuals who’ve experienced trauma. In the past, I’ve even used my dachshund, Niebo, as a therapy dog in community settings. I believe animals feed off our energy, so creating a trusting, calm environment is key to your dog’s happiness and mental well-being. Please note: While we’re home most of the time, we also run a small business, so I appreciate when dogs are trusted in our home and pickup/drop-off times are respected. We take pride in maintaining a clean and organized environment, so if your dog has marking tendencies, please send them with reusable doggy diapers or communicate this with me ahead of time (if it’s too excessive please do not inquire). This helps me provide a safe, calm, happy and CLEAN environment for everyone.

Pets

A typical day

Our dogs typically can be found living their best life, either sunbathing or lizard watching. We have plentiful outdoor bones, access to fresh water, and amble space for the pups to run and explore. My husband's office faces the window to the backyard so all dogs are monitored while he works. The evenings are usually spent up-keeping our backyard garden. In general we spend a lot of our time in our backyard where we love to play fetch or relax with our dogs.

--Let me know if your dog has any special needs or behaviors I need to look out for. -- At times I will have multiple bookings, please let me know ahead of time if your dog does not do well with other dogs. (or if your dog does not do well with certain breeds, ages or genders). --We have a variety of plants inside and outside our home (cacti, rosebushes, flowers, herbs, and other indoor plants) Our dogs are trained to ignore them. If your dog has a tendency to eat or uproot plants please let me know, as this may not be the best house for them. --Let me know if your dog is not allowed treats or has allergies. We do NOT feed dogs human food. --Let me know if your dog is food or toy aggressive (I feed dogs in separate rooms as precaution) --If your dog(s) does not do well with small dogs or cats, please do not inquire. -- If your dog has a tendency to excessively mark or is not well potty trained, please do not inquire. --If your dog does not listen to basic commands (sit, come, no, etc), please do not inquire (Puppies are exceptions!). --Please Note: Overall my husband and I are extremely understanding, but we highly value communication. Although my husband works from home and my schedule is hybrid, we still work full time, and have a teenager. As a result we adjust our schedule accordingly to provide adequate care for your fur baby. Lack of communication and follow through with boarding requests, pickup/drop off times, or meet and greets can be inconvenient to our family. Things happen and that's okay, but please just communicate with us :), I promise we are very understanding!
