I currently work part-time from home, and attend virtual grad classes 9 AM-6 PM every other Saturday. I typically structure pet care around a family's usual routine. I typically can take dogs out 2-3 times a day - once in the morning, once in the afternoon, and once in the evening. I tend to be less structured with cats and go based on their established feeding schedule, with plenty of time for some attention. I do require clients to have some openness with their scheduling needs, as my schedule as a social worker can be subject to flexibility. I will always do my best to stick as close as possible to your pet's natural routine and communicate schedule changes that will impact your pet's care.

When providing drop-in care to your home, I will do my best to follow your pet's natural routine as closely as possible and ensure your home remains safe and clean in the process. With all drop-in services, I include bringing in your mail, taking out your trash, and of course, cleaning for your pet as needed. I love it when clients can provide a detailed care outline for me, including your pet's typical routine and daily needs, especially if there are particular dos and don'ts that clients would like me to know about being in your home with your pet - this is super important if you have an escape artist or behaviorally-sensitive pet. This includes outside time, crating or allowing your pet to roam, and my access to parts of the home based on what your pet is used to and owner preference. When in my home, your pet will be around my three pets - a dog and two cats. Thus, I will only take your pet for services in my home if there has been a successful meet and greet in my home before services. Again, I appreciate I detailed care outline of feeding habits, any behavior quirks I will need to be aware of (is your pet a counter surfer or nervous pottier), and emergency contact information - especially for your pet's vet in the case of an emergency. I will only crate your pet if this is a normal part of your pet's routine. Otherwise, expect a playdate, lots of treats, and snuggles!

Please let me know if your pet has special needs, takes any medications/has allergies, or any behaviors I will need to account for. It’s sometimes helpful to remember that pets can act much differently/become stressed when owners are gone, so behaviors may change. Please also let me know if your home has any quirks (doors that get stuck, others that may be in the home at the same time, such as cleaners, or areas that remain off limits to me and your pet while you are away). I am comfortable working in homes with pet and security cameras, so long as clients inform me of where cameras will be filming while I am in the home.
A typical day
When I get to your home for a drop-in, I will greet your pet and go straight to check in activities (check water, litter/potty break, any necessary cleaning). Cats then get approximately 30 minutes to one hour of play time, and dogs get at least 15 minutes of outside time or one walk per day, depending on age/weight, and if they are used to being more active. If allowed, I love to take doggies to get a pup cup and to the dog park, or let cats watch cat TV.

Hi, I’m Mer! With over 10 years of experience in pet care across eastern Kansas, I’ve had pets my entire life — and their love and joy are what inspired me to begin pet sitting years ago. What started as a way to support myself through college has grown into a passion I’ve carried into graduate school, where I’m pursuing a Master’s in Social Work and Public Health. My academic and personal experiences have deepened my respect for the role pets play in our families — and the need for dependable, family-centered pet care that prioritizes each pet’s joy, comfort, and emotional well-being. During my time in Kansas, I had the privilege of learning from veterinarians and vet techs from the nationally ranked Kansas State University Veterinary Hospital, where I expanded my knowledge of pet safety and health. Now, recently relocated to Augusta, Georgia, I’m excited to bring that experience and love for animals to the Peach State! From dogs and cats to rabbits, small insect-eating reptiles, and aquatic pets, I’ve cared for animals of all sizes and temperaments, including those with special needs or requiring medication. I also have a background in photography and graphic design, and love capturing each pet’s unique personality through custom portraits, which I include free with every booking. I’m not currently available for house sitting, but I do offer the following in-home services for established clients (five or more bookings and a strong care relationship): – In-home dog sitting (daycare) – In-home boarding for house-trained dogs compatible with my own pets (one booking at a time for the comfort and safety of all animals) Pet sitting has become one of my greatest joys over the years, and it is so much more than just a job to me. Many of my clients and their pets have become lifelong friends. It’s my privilege to provide the same safety, love, and comfort for your pets that I’d want for my own. Meredith was absolutely incredible. This was my first time ever leaving my dog at home with in-home visits, and she made the entire experience completely stress-free. From the very beginning, she was communicative, kind, and clearly someone who truly loves animals. On day one, my sweet Bella had an accident, and Meredith handled it without hesitation. She cleaned everything up and reassured me right away, which meant more than she probably knows. This was Bella’s first time being left at home, and Meredith was so patient, gentle, and loving with her. She even brought toys and treats and made sure Bella felt comfortable, safe, and very well loved the entire time. I would 1,000% recommend Meredith to anyone looking for someone they can fully trust with their fur baby. Bella was cared for like she was her own, and I am beyond grateful.
Meredith took great care of our two kitties while we were out of the country for 2 weeks! She sent such cute photos and often stayed later than what she was scheduled as well! We had an unexpected situation of a bat being found in our house, which she handled so much better than I would have and took the necessary precautions to keep our kitties safe. She doesn’t have many reviews, but I found out it’s only because she also has her own private pet sitting service that she mainly books through! I’d 100% book with Meredith again in the future!
Great dog sitter for Magnolia, she kept Magnolia busy with toys, fed her on time and even took her for walks! Meredith also went out of her way to send pictures of Magnolia throughout the day! I’d gladly recommend her as an animal sitter to anyone looking!
Meredith has been my pet and house sitter for more than a year. She is 100% dependable, keeping everything straight by writing detailed info in her planner and referring to it as needed. Meredith is always pleasant and enthusiastic. She was able to pet our elusive cat on her 2nd stay; my husband couldn't pet that cat got for 5 years!! Meredith takes our dog for walks, which she (the dog) loves. We love getting pictures of Mere with our pets when we are away. I highly recommend Meredith Comas as a great pet sitter.
