Temporary Dog Parents Available
CURRENT CLIENTS: If calendar shows us as unavailable during your potential stay, please still reach out. We may still be able to accommodate your pup. As former pet parents, we understand that your pets are an extension of your family. We will care for your pup like we would want our former pups to be cared for while we were away. We love having dogs around but currently don't have one of our own. We also will only sit dogs from one family at a time. Therefore, we are a perfect choice for those pups who like to be the center of attention. We currently work away from the home three days a week. Typically, these days are Tuesday - Thursday, but can be adjusted when we are sitting a pup that is not used to being home alone during the day or for first time clients. About the Home: We live in a single-family home in the Bay View neighborhood. The home has a partially fenced-in yard and is air conditioned with several windows for animals to look out of when not outside. We also have a deck where we spend most days (weather permitting) that has a gate so the dogs can be out there lounging with out. Dogs can roam freely in the house while we are away if that is what they are accustomed to that. Our home is tri-level with many stairs, so it may not be a good fit for dogs that don't do stairs well. Our neighbors also have dogs so if your dog isn't good with seeing dogs through a barrier such as a fence, we may not be a good fit. During your dogs stay, we will work to provide the same rules and training that you enforce in your home, ie walking habits, allowed on furniture, treats, etc. We do not allow dogs on our bed, so if they are accustomed to sleeping in the bed, we are not the best fit for your pup. Before taking on a new client, we will require a meet and greet to ensure both you and we (and your pup) are comfortable. This will also give us a chance to discuss any questions or concerns that either party has, to see the house, and let me know what concerns you have or things we should look out for. We ask that all dog parents be as honest as possible about their pup and how they have previously responded to being in an unfamiliar place or any other info that would be helpful for me to know while they are under my care. The more we know about your dog and their quirks the better we can take care of them. The best sits we've had are ones where the owners provide detailed information on their pup's habits and quirks.

Ratings and reviews
I was so happy with my experience with Melody and Craig. As a first-time River client, I was a bit anxious at the start, but their professionalism and clear communication quickly put me at ease. I truly enjoyed working with them and look forward to doing so again in the future.

Melody and Craig took great care of our dog! They were very mindful of her anxiety and special needs and were thoughtful in communicating with us before and during the stay. Would highly recommend Melody and Craig!

Omar had another great stay with Melody and her partner. I got photos and updates each day about how he was doing. Definitely recommend.

They did an amazing job with our anxious, playful little guy while we were out of town for a week. Melody provided me with detailed daily updates and pictures and spent time playing with him and taking him for walks. It was wonderful to know Louie was being so well cared for while we were away!

They did a great job watching Omar! I was sent a picture or video each day with an update about how he was doing. They were also very accommodating when my flight got delayed and pick up was pushed back. Definitely recommend.

Absolutely phenomenal hosts!!

Schedule
We work outside of the home three days a week, typically Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Our days at home can be adjusted, if needed. We are early risers and will have plenty of time to spend time with your pup before and afterwork on the days we work outside of the home. For other days, your pup will get plenty of play time and the walks that they are used to.

Safety, trust & environment
We treat the pets we care for just like we would if they were our own. We understand that someone's pet is an extension of their family.
A typical day
When your dog stays with us, they will enjoy time in the yard/deck (on leash) and walks in Humboldt park. IF they are up for a longer walk, we'll head on down to Southshore park. We also ask that you bring any toys that your dog loves so we can interact with time in the home as well.

- Completing your dog's profile in as much detail as possible is helpful for a great stay. Below is a list of questions that can be helpful when completing your dogs profile. If your dogs profile is missing care info or vet I will ask that you fill out a form prior to handing your dog over for care. -How long have you had your dog? - How many times do they typically poop a day? - Do they typically poop in yard on on a walk? -Can you describe your dogs personality? -Have you had a stranger watch your dog before? Any issues? -Any past history with house training or being destructive? -Any history with biting or nipping? -What are her favorite activities? -Does she get along with other dogs she meets on the street? - Any food/drug allergies? - Any special needs or medications? - Any phobias or fears that I should be aware of? ex: loud noises, thunderstorms, children/adults, vacuum cleaner :) - Any history of jumping fences or running away? -What is your general feeding schedule? Frequency, quantity, and brand. ( Please bring enough food for your pet's entire stay) - What kinds of treats do you allow your dog to have and how often? - Do you crate your dog? If so, when and for how long? I do no have a crate, so if crating is necessary please bring one for the stay. - How often is your dog typically walked? How are they on a leash and do they walk on a specific side? Are they afraid of busy streets? - Any quirks your dog may have? - Where does the dog sleep? - Does your dog have history of anxiety when at home or away from the home? I have seen anxiety displayed the following ways: lack of appetite, restlessness, pacing, destructive behavior, etc.
