Hi, I'm Mell! :) I currently work from home full-time as an Account Director in the Mental Health field! I have over 15 years of experience caring for and training dogs and six years of experience with my own rescue, Jasper. I've also been the go-to sitter for friends for many years now. I’ve cared for an array of breeds and sizes—including rescues and seniors—and I find it incredibly rewarding to provide them with a loving, structured environment. (If possible, of course!) Important Note on Training: While I love working with dogs of all ages and energy levels, I do not accept untrained dogs for boarding or sitting. This includes dogs who are not potty trained, excessively destructive, or who display severe behavioral issues that require professional intervention. I believe that a structured, safe, and positive environment is essential for all pets in my care, and I kindly ask that owners ensure their dogs have basic training and manners before booking with me. My partner, Kurt, and I work from home with flexible schedules, so your pet will receive attention throughout the day. Stays include daily walks through the trails of Avalon or nearby parks, multiple brain games and supervised playtime in the backyard. To ensure a safe and comfortable experience, all boarders must be: ✔️ Potty trained ✔️ Non-destructive (no furniture chewing, excessive marking, etc.) ✔️ Able to do a meet & greet with Jasper and me to ensure compatibility Our home is a three-bedroom townhome with a fenced backyard, providing ample space for dogs to play and relax. --- Additional Things to Know: I have several gates installed on my main level, ensuring controlled introductions and safe feeding times. I am consistently reinforcing socialization during a pups stay and ensuring doggos can be rewarded when calm and co-existing successfully and respecting the other dogs boundaries. Jasper is great for this as he is a big calm gentle giant displaying this behaviour already! I am always mindful of treat-sharing and meal times to prevent any resource guarding. I use positive reinforcement and redirection only to encourage good behaviour (treats, lots of praise and a big basket of toys) I look forward to making Jasper some new friends and giving you peace of mind while you're away—because I know firsthand how stressful it can be to leave your furry loved one behind!
