Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily routine because I’m a full-time homemaker and home throughout the day. This allows me to give pets my full attention, whether that means timely walks, playtime, companionship, medication schedules, or simply being nearby for reassurance and supervision. Because I’m not juggling a traditional work schedule outside the home, I’m able to adapt my day around each pet’s needs rather than fitting them into gaps. I’m attentive to routines, feeding times, medications, litter box maintenance, and behavioral cues, and I’m always nearby if something feels “off.” For added peace of mind, I’m located less than a mile from an emergency veterinary clinic, and I take preparedness and safety very seriously. My home environment is calm, consistent, and well-suited for pets who thrive on routine, quiet supervision, and gentle interaction. Whether your pet needs frequent check-ins, extra playtime, senior support, medication administration, or just someone present and attentive throughout the day, I’m able to provide that level of care reliably and without rush.

Safety, trust & environment

I provide calm, safety-focused care tailored to each pet, whether in my home or yours. My home includes a fully fenced backyard for supervised outdoor time, and I’m located just a block from Bear Creek and nearby trails, allowing for peaceful, controlled walks close to home. I’m attentive to routines, medication schedules, feeding preferences, and household rules. For cats, I prioritize clean litter boxes, fresh food and water, gentle interaction, and respect for boundaries. For dogs, I provide safe walks, structured outdoor time, help with continuing education for a puppy's house breaking potty training and I’m happy to follow crate routines if needed. Safety and preparedness are very important to me. I’m located less than a mile from an emergency veterinary clinic, which allows for quick response if a situation ever requires it. Whether caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home, I focus on consistency, cleanliness, and clear communication so pet parents can feel confident and at ease.

Information Melissa Z. would like to know about your pet

Dog Meet & Greets: During a dog meet & greet, I like to learn what makes your dog your dog. Helpful things to share include their age, daily routine, energy level, and any medical needs or medications. I also appreciate knowing about training (or training in progress), housebreaking status for puppies, and any behaviors or triggers I should be aware of, such as nipping, guarding, or sensitivities. The more I understand ahead of time, the better I can keep your dog comfortable, safe, and happy. Cat Meet & Greets: For cat meet & greets, I focus on understanding your cat’s personality and comfort level. I’ll ask about their age, routine, medical needs or medications, and how they prefer to be interacted with. It’s also helpful to know if your cat enjoys play, brushing, or prefers more independent companionship, as well as any sensitivities, stressors, or quirks. My goal is always to meet cats where they are and keep things calm and familiar.

A typical day

I customize care to fit each pet’s unique personality and routine, whether that’s walks, playtime, enrichment, training refreshers, or simply quiet companionship. Cats get interactive play, brushing, and calm, respectful attention based on what makes them feel safe and comfortable.

Pet care experience

Animals have always found their way to me. Even as a child, dogs would follow me home, something my dad was skeptical of at first. He thought I just wanted to bring home every dog in the neighborhood. It wasn’t until I got older and began working with and volunteering for animal rescue groups that he realized it was real. Animals, dogs in particular genuinely gravitated toward me.

I can’t recommend Melissa enough. She took incredible care of our dog while we were away and gave us complete peace of mind the entire time. Communication was amazing, we got regular updates and photos, and it was obvious our dog was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. You can really tell she genuinely love animals and treat them like family! 10 out of 10 recommend!!

Melissa is awesome! You can tell she truly cares about animals. I have a 115 lb dog for reference & booked for dog walking. She always sent videos & was very respectful of any instructions I gave her.

Melissa was amazing with our dog!! She sent updates, took her on several walks and even took her to get treats at the Farmer's Market. We felt great knowing our dog was in such a loving and caring home! We would absolutely recommend Melissa!!

Book Melissa!! She is incredible - she does everything right. She welcomed our dogs into her home for a meet and greet AND a play date to ensure they were comfortable in her home before a week long stay. We received updates all week long of the dogs at the farmers market, snuggling on the couch and in bed, and playing outside in her yard. When I picked the dogs up, they had new toys (!!) and clearly were well rested. There is no better feeling than to know your dogs were well loved and cared for when you can’t take them along. If I could give Melissa 10 stars I would. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️
