Pet care experience

We don’t blame them, we train them!

For the last 12 years, I have been working to understand dogs and be the best pet parent I could be for my dogs. Some of my dogs, were at times very challenging. In order to achieve our goals, we began to study under the guidance of a master trainer 8 years ago. Recently, I purchased a property in Sebastopol and made the decision to pursue dog care, training and boarding as a business. I look forward to assisting you in being the best pet parent you can be for your fur-child.

Melissa is wonderful and did a great job with our puppy Magnus when he stayed with her for the long weekend when we had to travel. She was thoughtful and communicative, has a great deal of experience and knowledge about dogs to share, and Magnus took to her immediately and learned from her. We really appreciated being able to leave him with such a wonderful and trustworthy person!

Dog Walking • Jan 22, 2026

Melissa is an absolute professional! My dog Noodle came from a shelter with some PTSD issues. He is sensitive and slow to trust individuals. It can take days for him to settle in with someone new. He usually has to meet a sitter or walker a couple times before we bring in their services. I had an unexpected injury happen and needed a dog walker immediatelly. I wasn’t able to provide Noodle his much needed daily walk. Noodle’s walks require distance and mental stimulation. Melissa showed up like a super woman, knew exactly how to work with Noodle’s sensitivity to stranger’s. She was kind, patient and truly skilled with working with dogs. I had no worries with Noodle being with her. He would come back showing he was supported by her, and received the specific attention he desperately needs. I will add, she was on time, communicative, sent pictures. She discussed details about the walk and Noodle’s behavior. I can’t wait to work with Melissa again, it was that good of service- Christy

Safety, trust & environment

My prerogative is the safety, comfort and fulfillment of your animal above all else. While sitting in your home, we will work together to ensure that these values are maintained at the highest level. Reinforcing a similar structure you have in place as well as fulfillment system for your animal is the best way for us to ensure success. While on my property, dogs will be crated and sleep in the home with me and I will do my utmost to fulfill their needs while ensuring their safety at the same time.

A typical day

Typically, the dog will be pottied and exercised first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening. Additionally, I am available to provide mid-day excursions to anywhere that your dog may prefer depending on their current level of training and socialization. As always, safety and fulfillment of your animal is my goal, and listening carefully to your needs is of utmost importance.

Melissa can host up to 3 pets per night
In our initial 10-15 minute phone consultation or paid walk or meet and greet, we will discuss such things as follows; the dog’s current level of socialization and training, the types of leash or collar you prefer they are walked with, locations where they may enjoy being walked or the ways in which you prefer them to be exercised. Medical needs and dietary specifications are of utmost importance to discuss ahead of time, as well as any behaviors they exhibit that may be challenging and require training or management to successfully overcome. Let us ensure that we are the proper fit from the start so that we may have a successful long term working relationship together.
