Safety, trust & environment
Between fostering, walking friends' dogs, and raising Nala, I've built real hands-on experience with dogs across a wide range of needs and temperaments. My home has a yard for outside time (unfenced), and I stay fully present during every visit and walk. I communicate with owners however they prefer: photos, texts, or a full recap after each visit.
Information Melissa V. would like to know about your pet
Please share anything about your dog's behavior, health, or routine before we meet. Things like food allergies, medications, reactivity to other dogs or strangers, separation anxiety, or any quirks that help me care for them properly. I work with dogs of all temperaments, and I'm not easily thrown off, but the more I know going in, the better experience your dog will have from day one!
A typical day
Every dog is different, so I start by getting a feel for what your pup actually enjoys. Some dogs want to move and explore, while others need mental stimulation more than miles. A typical day with me includes a good walk through the neighborhood, sniff breaks on their terms, and some form of play or engagement to keep their minds busy. For higher energy dogs, we keep the pace up. For seniors or dogs who need a slower day, we take it easy and focus on comfort and connection. Either way, your dog stays active, engaged, and never just sitting around waiting.

Pet care experience
Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the past 9 years, I've cared for dogs of every size, age, and personality: puppies, seniors, high-energy large breeds, and anxious pups who need patience and consistency. I'm a dog mom to a 10-year-old Lab-mix and an active foster, so rescue organizations have trusted me to care for dogs in transition who need extra structure and love. I also regularly walk and exercise dogs for friends, which means I'm used to earning trust quickly with new pups and their people. My own dog, Nala, struggles with severe separation anxiety and high mental stimulation needs. Caring for her has sharpened my observation of dogs. I pick up on the small things: a slight limp, a head shake, a change in breathing. I document what I notice and share it with owners so they stay informed. I follow every dog's lead and adjust to what they need that day.
Reviews
I highly recommend Melissa as a pet sitter on Rover. She has helped me with my baby, Butterscotch, during emergency situations and always made the entire process seamless and stress-free. She is professional, dependable, and very detail-oriented, which gave me so much peace of mind knowing my dog was in good hands.
Melissa is always there I need someone to check on my pup. She always ends video updates and my dog loves her so much! She definitely makes being a pet parent so much easier!
