I like to meet the owner and pet first and take notes of any special care requirement. Meeting the pet and owner first establishes a good relationship and greeting. Its good to get to know the pet first and vice versa. Therefore, I am unable to provide service without a meet and greet. Please refrain from contacting me if you are a new client with a request less than a day notice. Urgent requests will only be accepted from established clients providing a minimum of 24 hours' notice. For feeding and medication, I follow all instructions of what's given to me by the owner. I always ask for any medication that is required and what they can not eat. My background in working at CROW wildlife rehabilitation center enabled me to safely administrate medication to animals.
Information Melissa U. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet is weary with strangers. This will allow me to have an idea on how to easily approach your pet the best way as possible when meeting them for the first time.
A typical day
I like to play with the pet with toys, groom them if I am allowed to brush their fur by the owner, sit with them on the floor or chair and give them pets and belly rubs.

Pet care experience
I have a Bachelor's in animal science. I have taken extensive courses in animal care. I have 3 years of experience working in a dog daycare called Ruff Club in New York City. I was a Dog Enrichment Coordinator at BARCS animal shelter in 2019 and I used to volunteer in fostering and doing outside day trips with dogs at the shelter. My experience consists of positive reinforcement walks, standard obedience training, boarding, and translating dog behavior. I also have knowledge and skills of handling small pets like rabbits, hamsters, birds, etc. I have great love in my heart for animals.
Reviews

Melissa was attentive, flexible, and reliable when taking care of my shy cat, Kira! She was timely and communicative, following the care instructions as listed. You’re in good hands if you book with her. :)
Thank you for walking Odin! Melissa had good communication and we felt like Odin was in great hands!

Melissa was wonderful with our dog. She covered two non-consecutive weeks when our regular dog walker was out of town. She was very thorough during the meet & greet and maintained excellent communication and service across all the walks. She was especially good at keeping our boy calm during pickup. I highly recommend Melissa!

Melissa takes such great care of Ronan! He absolutely loves her! She is very responsive and always sends the cutest pictures! Would highly recommend her!
