Our routine daily evolves around dog walks and a few days/week we visit my elderly parents. Sam loves going to their house where he's the center of attention, and if your dog enjoys car rides and being spoiled, s/he will be too! If I need to leave the house without the dogs, it's generally between 2-4 hours. We love dog-walks ... on the hiking trails near my house, around the neighborhood, or to the local dog park. We love spending time in the yard- throwing the ball, chewing on sticks, or stalking squirrels.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced yard with plenty of trees and squirrels to keep most dogs entertained! We are close to the Hulls Gulch trail system, with plenty of trails and neighborhood sidewalks for dog walking. Sam loves to have company and is great at sharing the many stuffed animals he has buried in the yard! My experience caring for animals... from pack goats and sheep, to horses and lots of dogs, has taught me the power of observation. The first 24 hours your dog is in my care, I will be highly focused on getting to know them- observing behavior, and getting in tuned with their communication styles and needs. This helps us create a safe, comfortable and fun routine for days to come! I love getting to know each unique personality, and figuring out how to bring joy and fun to their stay!

Information Melissa R. would like to know about your pet

Although my yard is a paradise for dogs, it may not be the best fit your dog! I look forward to Meet and Greets with pets and their people to walk through the yard to make sure it will be a good fit for your perfect puppy!

A typical day

A typical day starts with coffee.... doggie snuggles, breakfast and a walk or good play session in the yard. Since my life is based out of my home, I am generally with the dogs throughout the day. If I need to leave for an errand without the dogs, they have beds and plenty of water and shelter in the back fenced yard, with plenty of birds and squirrels to keep them busy. In colder weather they have the run of the house!

Pet care experience

Our family has always had big dogs, and we can’t get enough! We’d love to invite another dog to join us on daily walks or overnights. Sam (my Golden Retriever) and I love having another dog to share our days!

Melissa and Sam were perfect for Penny. Just the right amount of fun and relaxation. Penny had a great time. I'll definitely call Melissa again.
