Information Melissa P. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know in advance if your dog has any special needs, allergies, health or behavioral issues that I will need to account for. I want to do my best to make them feel comfortable and not disrupt their space. I am also a registered nurse and feel confident in handling medications and health concerns, even if dogs are different than humans, a lot of allergies, behaviors and medical conditions are similar to humans!
A typical day
Of course lots of play with toys, seek and find games with treat (if allowed), tug of war, mini reinforcement and training sessions to their knowledge, fun in the yard with my pup and snuggles on the couch if they'd like!

Pet care experience
Hi! I'm Melissa! A little bit about me. Growing up, our family always had dogs and cats. Since the moment I was born, I was raised alongside dogs and cats and at one point in my childhood we had three large breed dogs and 2 cats at once, so fun and crazy! This always nurtured my deep appreciation for animals from an early age. One of our family dogs even had three litters of puppies during my teenage years, giving me hands on experience caring for dogs and puppies of all ages and sizes. Today, I have my own dog in my own family home, a 76 pound English Coonhound rescue from Arkansas. Despite his high energy levels, strength and tendency to pull on the leash, I handle him confidently and independently. I adopted him through Philly Rescue Angels Inc., where I am also an approved foster. Family and friends have relied on me for years from a young age to let out, walk, feed, and play with their dogs whether it be when they need help on short notice or go on an extended vacation. In addition to my experience with dogs, I’ve had cats throughout my life and have fostered them as well. One of my cats even needed daily insulin injections for diabetes and I always handled that myself. My background has given me a well rounded understanding of animal care, and I take pride in my ability to provide attentive, compassionate, and responsible care for all of your pets! Since I am a nurse, I also understand most medical conditions and medication administration and precautions for pets as well, they're more similar to us than we realize!
Reviews
Melissa was amazing! She watched my toy aussie doodle, Ash, while my family and I were away on vacation for a long weekend. She took our high energy Ash on long walks and made sure to play with her to keep her spirits up since she gets severe separation anxiety. Ash absolutely adored Melissa and so did we! Choosing who to watch our dog in the future will be such an easy decision; we finally found someone responsible and kindhearted we feel comfortable and confident leaving our dog with. Thank you again, Melissa!
Melissa has always been an animal lover and responsible pet parent. She has experience with both cats and dogs as she has two of her own and is an excellent care taker. She has a great personality and is hard working, trustworthy, and provides a safe space. Highly recommend her, she would be a great fit for any of your pet sitting needs!
