Pet care experience

Premium pet care

Hi, I’m Melissa! I started pet sitting in high school, and volunteered with Dallas Animal Services in college. Since I work full-time and travel, I’m not able to have a fluffy friend of my own yet - that’s where pet sitting comes in! For me, pet sitting is a way to indulge my love of animals, and to ensure that your four-legged family member is getting premium care. I believe pets are part of our families, and I will treat your pup (or kitty!) as such. My full-time job is remote, so as long as I have a WiFi connection I can provide multiple drop ins and potty breaks for your dogs and cats. I have experience with senior dogs and cats, anxious dogs, shy cats (I’ve never had a cat who wouldn’t eventually come out from hiding for me!), and pets who need daily medication. I’m also happy to care for small pets like guinea pigs, hamsters, or fish. If you hire me to watch your furry family, you can expect a minimum of 2 updates a day with photos included. What are you waiting for? Treat yourself to peace of mind and your pets to a spoiled staycation!

Best dog sitter ever! Chico was so well taken care of during his stay with the sitter. It’s a great peace of mind knowing he’s in good hand when I’m working.

Melissa continues to deliver excellent service—first with our kitties and now with our new puppy. She’s knowledgeable, thorough, and reliable. So happy to have her to care for my fur family.

Schedule

Although my other job is full-time, I do have flexibility as I am a remote worker. For house sitting, you can expect me to be there for breakfast and dinner, 2 30 min potty breaks and cuddles/playtime in the afternoon, and sleeping overnight with your pets. You can also choose to schedule drop ins as needed if you don’t require overnight stays. If you want to book housesitting services but your pet cannot be alone for >3 hours, that falls into continuous care and will be charged at $300/day.

Your dog MUST be spayed/neutered. Large dogs (50+) must be leash trained in order for me to walk them. For liability reasons, I will not walk dogs with a retractable leash; the dog must have a standard nylon leash, either yours or my own. You must let me know if your dog is dog aggressive. Additionally, it’s important for me to know if your dog and/or cat has separation anxiety, if there are foods that they are not allowed to have, if they need special medications, and favorite toys. If you have cats, I’d also like to know if they are shy + have spots where they like to hide so I can do a “proof of life” check if they don’t come out right away!
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
