Availability
I am a full time teacher, so during the school year, I am not available until after school most days. That being said, there are occasions/locations where I am available to visit with pets before school. I am willing to discuss this, if need be, to try to as closely match your pets needs as I can.

Safety, trust & environment
Typically, I try to match the routine already established in the home as closely as possible. I also try to give attention and affection on their terms, especially if they are a bit shy. My ultimate goal is to make my care the best experience for your pet and you as it can be.

Information Melissa L. would like to know about your pet
It is important for me to know several things about your pet including: activity level, affection preferences, fears/phobias, preferred walking routes (busy streets, quiet spaces, etc), feeding and bathroom routines, etc.
A typical day
I typically adjust activities based on the interaction from the pets. If a dog wants to play, we play unless otherwise instructed by the owner. If a cat wants to snuggle, we snuggle. Typically the animal will show me what makes him/her comfortable. I try to accommodate that as much as possible as long as it's safe for the pet and the household.

Teacher and Animal Lover!
Pet care experience
I genuinely love all animals. I have had my own dogs since 2002, and have been involved in dog rescue for equally as long. Prior to that, as I was growing up, we had dogs in our household. I was also involved with my college equestrian team and worked at the barn caring for many horses. Over the last few years, I have also become involved with wildlife rehabilitation, with focus on small mammals. Because of my love for all animals, your pet will be treated with genuine love, respect and concern for safety. Pets are part of the family and will be treated as such. The importance of regular care, affection and exercise is paramount. I am available most afternoons as well as on weekends. During the school breaks and summers, my schedule is extremely flexible and open. I would prefer to meet your pet before providing service if at all possible. This will allow all parties to be on the same page with the arrangement as well as discuss preferences. I have found both owner and pet to be more comfortable this way.
Reviews

Another happy, tired doggie after Melissa watched her for us. Would recommend her anytime even just for the extra care and playtime that she gave our Daisy.
Melissa is awesome in taking special care of our fur babies. Her reports are great. Thank you.
Awesome!

We could not ask for a better cat sitter than Melissa! She is so good with our older male cat who can be a bit cranky at times, but he has really warmed up to her. She is so patient with him even when he has bad days. She is very good with communications, and let’s us know when there are any issues or anything out of the ordinary which we do appreciate being out of the country. We would highly recommend her, even if your pet is older and fragile she is very responsible and caring, which is very comforting when we are away from home.
