Licensed dog handler, trustworthy and reliable
I am a licensed security dog handler and also own 4 large breed dogs myself which I have trained to a high standard. Owning working dogs too, I am very capable of handling all breeds of dogs. I am happy to accept dogs with behavioural issues, lack of manners, lead pulling or reactivity. These are all things I have experienced and overcame with some of my own dogs and foster dogs in the past. I own a Belgian Malinois who is my working security dog, so I also understand that high drive dogs may not be fulfilled with just a walk around the block. I can offer enrichment and fulfilment sessions to suit the individual dog. I am fully insured, DBS checked and first aid trained. My insurance is also inclusive of banned breeds, I specifically chose this due to me having 2 XL Bullys myself so you have peace of mind that I’m fully aware of the exemption rules and these will be followed at all times. Please be aware any exempt dogs will need to be a 1:1 ratio dog to handler at all times. I offer both group walks and solo walks, adventure days, house sitting, pop ins and overnight stays.

I can’t thank Mel enough for the care she gave our 20 month old German Shepherd. It’s not easy finding a sitter who is able to manage big dogs, especially one that is still pretty much a puppy. Mel did so with ease, she was not phased by her size and welcomed Athi into her home. It gave me such confidence to leave her in Mel’s care and I will not hesitate in recommending her services. Great experience leaving our four year old labradoodle away from us for the first time ever. Prior to the stay, Mel took time to meet us and to listen carefully to the needs of our loveable, but reactive on walks, boy. She is experienced, sensible and clearly really loves dogs. Mel took time and care in helping Flynn settle in and gave feedback and pictures which was very reassuring and showed he was having a happy time. The setting is rural which is lovely and ideal for our boy, with an enclosed garden and also the home is well set up for comfortably hosting a guest dog separate from the other dogs in the household. We will definitely ask Mel to host Flynn again and have no hesitation in recommending Mel’s dog care services. Thank you Mel :)

Mel is absolutely brilliant with our boy. He is a large dog and we struggled to find anyone to accept him as he can be reactive. Mel didn’t judge and after first meeting I knew Mel was the right fit for Pablo both from his reaction and hers. We now use Mel for dog walking as well as house sitting.

Schedule
I currently only work part time and I am self employed so I’m able to change my work schedule to fit around the dogs in my care.

Safety, trust & environment
I have a house with a large secure garden, situated in a very small village in the countryside. I am able to keep my own dogs completely separate from any other dogs.

A typical day
I specifically cater to the individual dog that I’m working with, whether that be a walk around the block for a senior dog, an enrichment session, a structured walk and continuation of training, an adventure day or a pop in for a toilet break, feeding and company.
