Hi, I’m Melissa! 🐾 I’ve been caring for animals for over 20 years, starting when I was just 13 years old. What began as helping family and friends has grown into something I truly love—providing dependable, attentive care that gives pet owners peace of mind while they’re away. I grew up with both dogs and cats and have experience with a wide range of dog breeds and sizes, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes and Mastiffs. I’m also a current multi-cat owner and provide care for backyard chickens, making me a great fit for households with more than one type of animal. My approach is simple: learn your animals, respect their routine, and care for them as individuals. ✨ MY CARE STYLE I’m calm, patient, observant, and attentive. Every animal has a different personality and comfort level, so I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Some dogs need an energetic walk. Some want to take their time and sniff everything along the way. Some cats want cuddles the second I walk through the door, while others prefer to watch me from across the room until they decide I’m trustworthy. And your chickens have their own established routines too! I pay close attention to: ✔ Body language and boundaries ✔ Litter box cleanliness and habits ✔ Feeding and water routines ✔ Play and enrichment ✔ Changes in appetite, behavior, or mood ✔ Building trust with shy or nervous cats I never force interaction. If your cat wants cuddles, I’m happy to provide them. If they would rather have a calm presence nearby while they decide whether I’m acceptable company, that’s perfectly fine too! 🐕 DOG CARE & WALKS I have experience caring for dogs ranging from small breeds to large breeds, including Great Danes and Mastiffs. Walks are tailored to your dog’s age, energy level, pace, and normal routine. I provide: ✔ Safe, attentive walks ✔ Energy-appropriate pacing ✔ Time to sniff and explore ✔ Awareness of surroundings ✔ Attentive leash handling ✔ Patience with different personalities and temperaments During drop-ins, I can also provide potty breaks, feeding, fresh water, playtime, companionship, and other agreed-upon parts of your dog's normal routine. 🐔 BACKYARD CHICKEN CARE Going out of town when you have chickens can make finding pet care a little more complicated. I’m happy to include basic backyard flock care during drop-in visits. Depending on your normal routine, visits may include: ✔ Checking and refreshing food ✔ Providing fresh water ✔ Collecting eggs ✔ Basic coop and flock checks ✔ Following your established chicken-care routine ✔ Letting chickens in/out when scheduled and appropriate If you have dogs, cats AND chickens, even better—you can have one sitter caring for the whole crew! 🐾 WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT ✔ Consistent and reliable care ✔ Clear communication ✔ Photos and visit updates ✔ Respect for your home ✔ Attention to changes in behavior or routine ✔ Care tailored to each animal ✔ A calm, trustworthy presence My goal is to become a familiar, reliable person in your pets’ lives—someone you can feel comfortable booking again and again. 🙏 SABBATH OBSERVANCE I observe the Sabbath and therefore do not offer walks or drop-in visits on Saturdays. I’m available the rest of the week and am happy to work with you to schedule care around Saturdays. Thank you for understanding and respecting this time. ⏰ AVAILABILITY & COMMUNICATION • Quiet hours: 10 PM–6 AM; messages received during this time will be answered in the morning • Earliest visits: 8 AM • Latest visits: 10 PM • Visits are generally scheduled within a ±1-hour arrival window to account for travel and scheduling between clients 🚗 SERVICE AREA I generally serve clients within a 20-mile radius of Franklinton. Requests outside my standard service area may be possible depending on my schedule and may include an additional mileage fee. 🐾 MEET & GREETS A complimentary meet & greet is included and required for all new clients. This gives us an opportunity to review your pets’ routines, feeding instructions, home access, medications, personalities, and anything else I should know before your first booking. Additional meet & greets may be scheduled as a drop-in visit. 🔑 HOME ACCESS Keys may be provided during the meet & greet or left in another mutually agreed-upon secure location. If a separate trip is required specifically for key pickup or return, an additional service fee may apply. 🐕 BOOKING POLICIES • Each pet receiving care should have their own Rover profile • A booking is confirmed once it has been accepted by both parties • Holiday requests should be confirmed promptly to reserve your dates • Please provide complete care instructions before your booking begins ❗ CANCELLATIONS Standard bookings: Full refund when canceled by noon the day before the booking begins. Later cancellations may receive a 50% refund. Holiday bookings require at least 3 days' notice for cancellation. 📸 DURING YOUR VISITS You’ll receive photos and an update with each visit, so you can see how everyone is doing while you're away.
