I’ve been volunteering at animals shelters for 10+ years and have experience with sensitive pets or unique regimens. I’ve also volunteered at the National Aquarium in an animal husbandry role, so I’m a quick learner if you have pets such as reptiles that need unique care. I grew up with cats, dogs, guinea pigs, mice, snakes, hamsters, chinchillas, and a frog named Fred. I probably enjoy the walks more than the pups and I’ve never met a cat I didn’t like!

My name is Melissa and I’m the proud human to three cats - Rosie, Griffon, & Minerva. I became the human to my first cat when I was 6 months old and maintained a wonderful bond with my Princess until she died at the old age of 21. I will treat any companion like they are my own and continue to love them in your absence.

I’m always looking for a companion to go on adventures with, if your dog is up for the challenge. But if your cat prefers to nap together - or even ignore me entirely, I can do that, too!

A typical day
I’m an avid walker - dog friendly hiking spots, parks, or just strolls around the neighborhood. It will depend on the energy of the dog; a younger dog I may try to play with/work out some energy outside whereas an older dog I may implore mental stimulation or a good ol trusty nap. I do want to note before you request with me: I have a full time in-person job. I have the availability, and preference, to check in on your pups every 2-4 hours. While my job is flexible, I will not accept any request for which I do not have the ability to properly take care of your loved ones and that might also impede my full-time job - this usually comes down to proximity of where I work versus where you live. I want to ensure you that I take the caring of your animals seriously and I will not compromise that for the sake of some extra cash.
