While spending time with your dog, they will never be allowed outside without me. While on walks I will always keep them away from other animals and people - unless instructed otherwise. I am trained to notice behavioral changes and will keep you up to date with all changes and activities.
Information Melissa J. would like to know about your pet
I treat my clients' dog(s) as if they are my own. I love animals and always think of them before myself. The dogs I care for will always enjoy a lot of play time and cuddle time. I like to make learning tricks fun. I also research the breed of dog in order to learn the temperament and activities the dog will enjoy. For example, my sister has a Puggle. Her Puggle loves to track and hunt. One of the activities I do with her is hiding treat filled toys in the yard or around the house and let her sniff them out.
A typical day
My dog sitting style is very laid back. During my meet and greets I ask a lot of questions to figure out the techniques the owner uses to train, reprimand, and generally care for his or her dog. I strive to make sure the dog's experience with me as close to being with its owner. Being away from their owner can make a dog very stressed and it is my goal to make the process the least bit stressful as possible.

Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Melissa, I am 32 years old and I have had a passion for dogs for as long as I can remember. I have 10 years of experience caring for dogs of all sizes and ages. I am currently an analyst for a major health insurance company and volunteer weekly at the Sanctuary of Haafsville in Breinigsville PA. In the past I was a dog walker and the volunteer coordinator for Peaceable Kingdom Inc. in Whitehall Township. Due to my ability to put animals at ease in a high stress situation, as well as being able to organize and communicate information to owners and potential owners, I was hired by The Center for Animal Health and Welfare in Easton PA. While employed, I worked in their “lower kennel” which housed their dogs with behavioral issues. I was the sole caregiver for 50+ hours a week to 14 dogs with a variety of behavioral issues- dog aggression, human aggression, food aggression, guarding, etc. I worked there for a year before moving into the corporate world. I have experience with grooming, house training, and behavior problems. I have experience with aggressive dogs, shy dogs, puppies, anxious dogs, and dogs with medical issues. I am able to give medication- both oral and injectable, check blood sugar and give insulin. I do my best to care your pet family exactly the way you care for them. I work from home full time and can work anywhere with a stable internet connection. I’m an available for walk/drop ins weekdays 5am- 7:30am and any time after 4:30pm. Weekends I generally available all day. I had a very healthy and happy cat for 16 years and recently lost my 14 year old dog to cancer. I regularly care for sister’s two dogs (a 110lb dog and 40lb dog). I also can’t walk by any animal without smiling and saying hello. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I look forward to hearing from you!

Melissa did a great job caring for my cats and keeping me updated throughout. Thank you!

Melissa was fabulous. In advance of our trip, Melissa came to meet Wally, Poppy and Rosie (our dog and cats). Melissa was very comfortable with all three of them. Rosie pretty immediately climbed in her lap. We knew we needed somebody special since Rosie, one of the cats, needs special care including oral and transdermal meds. Melissa was prepared to handle that. While we were gone Melissa sent daily updates and photos. Seeing the way all three of them around her, I knew they were in great hands. I really do think Melissa is the best.

We love Melissa! And so does our Zelda. Always reliable and respectful. We can’t wait for her to sit for our baby Z again.

Melissa immediately found her way into Claire’s puppy heart. She also negotiated all the particulars that a puppy in-training asks of her human companions. Melissa is a remarkable companion to our household!
