I own two cats, so there is always daily maintenance caring for them two. They both will enjoy leashed outdoor time in the yard, maybe once a week. I am also a regular sitter for my friends’ dogs, cats, and birds in the area.

My apartment has a large unfenced yard perfect for regular “potty breaks,” and one of my favorite parts of Soulard is how walkable and dog-friendly it is. Almost every business allows me to bring mine or my friends’ animals! Although I don’t have the space to host large dogs or cats, I am more than happy and able to do regular check ins based on your animal’s usual routine, as well as in-home sitting so they feel the most comfort of being in their own space.

Information Melissa H. would like to know about your pet
I have no species or breed preferences, but have a soft spot for "bully breeds" as my personal dog was a rottie/pit mix. I would like to know what your pet’s usual routine looks like, as well as diet, exercise, and temperament. Tell me the best way to get them to like me!
A typical day
My favorite hobby is simply walking - whether around the city window shopping, the local park, or trying out a new hiking trail - your dog will be exploring all this area has to offer. If the outdoors aren’t available, we will have plenty of time playing and snuggling! I love testing out which toy cats might be interested in the most so we can get some of that energy out through the day.

Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Mel and I am so excited to care for your companion. My passion for animals (both in the home and outside) led me to a career in environmental education, so no animal is too strange or “creepy” for me. My personal experience with pets is extensive, ranging from adopting and fostering dogs, cats, small mammals, fish, reptiles, birds, and more. My professional experience includes a degree in Wildlife Biology with experience in Wildlife Rehabilitation, independent pet sitting companies, and multiple years with Rover providing at-home visits, dog-sitting, cat-siting, and dog walking. Recently my best friend and “foster failure” of +12 years, a Rottweiler mix named Brody, passed away. Me and my cats, Zoot and Clam Chowder, miss him dearly, and I hope that picking Rover back up after a hiatus will help with our paw shaped hole. I am located in Soulard and own a reliable vehicle that allows me to cater to the surrounding areas and any animal transport needs. I am able to provide short term overnight housing with animals that will play with or ignore my two cats. Although I don’t have a fenced in yard, Soulard is a dog walker’s dream and I love to visit the pet friendly businesses with animals I’m caring for! Please feel free to reach out with any other questions!
Reviews

Melissa was wonderful with Todd, and gave great updates every day. Would definitely book again!

Mel took great care of our pets while we were out of town. She was always on time, communicative, and sent lots of photos which we appreciated. She even offered to do a meet and great ahead of booking and really read up on all of our pets needs and complex medication schedules. She has experience with rats which is a huge plus and was so sweet with them. Highly recommend!

Melissa was incredible!! She was very attentive to every detail we offered for taking care of our cat, Freya, and Freya seems to have loved her greatly. The updates we received were thoughtful and detailed.

Melissa was great with Khaleesi. She was very professional and let me know.when she will arrived. She sent photos of my big baby (Khaleesi)through out the day.She kept.me informed with play time and meals and walks. I would definitely book her again. She also accommodated me at the last minute. I love her energy!
