Availability
I work part-time, which I've chosen to frame as a lifestyle rather than a circumstance. It means I'm available, present, and not rushing out the door at 8 am. I also run and exercise more than the average person, which your dog will either love or deeply regret. Cats will not be dragged on runs. I want to be clear about that. Every pet gets what they actually need: exercise, rest, attention, or all three. I show up ready for any of it.

Safety, trust & environment
Animals in my care get two things without exception: safety and attention. Not the performative kind. The actual kind. I follow routines because pets care about routines more than people do. I respect their space because they live there, and I'm a visitor. I don't cut corners because the corners matter. Your pet can't tell you how it went. I make sure they wouldn't have any complaints if they could.
Information Melissa H. would like to know about your pet
Important things I need to know ahead of time: Please share your pet’s daily routine, feeding schedule, and any medical needs or allergies. Let me know about their personality, energy level, and any fears or triggers. It’s also helpful to know house rules, favorite activities, and anything they shouldn’t have access to. The more details you provide, the better I can keep them safe, comfortable, and happy!
A typical day
Your dog? We’re talking action sequences, dramatic slow-motion fetch, and possibly an award-winning performance in “Best Supporting Good Boy.” Your cat? Equal parts mysterious royalty and tiny chaos gremlin—handled with respect, snacks, and the occasional laser pointer heist. Expect walks that feel like adventures, playtime that rivals their greatest dreams, and enough attention and affection to make them forget you ever left (don’t take that personally). I pay attention to their quirks, routines, and favorite things—because every pet deserves to feel like the main character.

Pet care experience
I've handled several kinds of pets. All alive. All happy. Anxious pets specifically seem to find me calming. I choose not to read into that.

Reviews
Melissa Horton is exceptionally dependable and has become our go-to sitter. We are so lucky to have found her! She follows Roy's feeding and walking schedule to the minute, which gives us incredible peace of mind. Beyond the basics, she always goes the extra mile by sending photo updates while we’re away, and we always come home to a house that is tidier than we left it. We couldn’t ask for a more reliable caretaker!" Truly a 5-star sitter!"
