Pet care experience
Nurturing & enthusiastic pet care🐾
I’m an Atlanta native who grew up with all kinds of animals, so caring for pets has always been part of my life. I work fully remote in technology, which means your dog gets plenty of attention and company throughout the day. Before working in tech, I spent 15 years as an educator, and I’m also a mom of two — nurturing and keeping creatures safe is second nature to me. We are active and love getting outside, so energetic pups are not too much for us. If your dog prefers a slower pace and lots of affection, my kids and I are equally happy to provide a cozy, snuggly environment. My home is set up well for boarding, with a comfortable indoor space and a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time. I genuinely enjoy helping pet parents travel with peace of mind, knowing their dog is happy, safe, and loved.

Melissa was wonderful with our dog. She was easy to work with and very flexible. We’ll definitely be using her again!!
Melissa was fantastic! My dogs were happy and well cared for and Melissa provided great communication the whole time. It’s easy to see that she loves animals and really cares about her “guests”! Thanks so much!

Melissa is the best! So easy to communicate with and Millie has a blast!

Melissa is the best when it comes to taking care of my fur babies. She is caring, dependable, and always treats them like they're her own. I have complete peace of mind knowing they're in such loving hands. I couldn't recommend her more!

We had booked with Melissa over the 4th of July weekend based on a recommendation from a friend. We met previously at Melissa's house with our dog, where our dog interacted with Melissa and a few other dogs she was watching at that time that were regulars for her. We explained that based on the breed, our dog often barks to alert, but were assured that this would not be a problem and that Melissa was very experienced with dogs of all breeds. During the stay, we got some pictures and updates and it seemed like everything went well. I was encouraged because it had taken so long to find someone we trusted. After I picked up my dog and brought her home, we discovered that a bark collar had been placed and accidentally left on our dog. I confirmed that the bark collar not only made an audible sound and vibrated when triggered, but that it shocked as well. We never authorized the use of a shock collar, we don't use one at home, and our dog has zero training with it. The only reason we discovered that a shock collar was even used is because it was accidentally left on. If it had been removed before I picked our dog up, we never would have known. What is worse, is that these collars can accidentally be set off by other dogs in the same vicinity as the dog wearing the collar, meaning a dog could get shocked for no reason. Rover's own website has articles advising against these kinds of collars for reasons just like this. I confirmed with my friend who had recommended Melissa that they had never had an experience like this one and they would not be returning to Melissa either. I immediately notified Rover, but had to try multiple times to get someone to respond. Once they investigated, they gave us a partial credit with Rover and a de minimis refund from Melissa. I've absolutely lost all trust in Rover, Melissa, and leaving my dog with someone that I do not personally know. It is such a fundamental abuse of trust that there is no coming back from it for me. If someone wants to use those collars on their dog or through additional training, then that is their choice to make, but someone else making that choice for me without my prior knowledge or consent and Rover tacitly condoning that choice is too much.
Piper had a great long visit! Melissa was easy to communicate with, very responsive and trusted her with our pup while we were gone for over a week!

Schedule
Because I work remotely, I’m home throughout the day and can easily follow your dog’s normal routine. My fenced yard makes quick potty breaks or longer outdoor time simple and safe.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
If your pet stays overnight, they’ll have a calm, private space to settle in and rest. Because I host multiple dogs simultaneously, I am very careful about combinations of dogs. I am always mindful of safety around feeding time. I do not board aggressive dogs or dogs that have histories that make them unfriendly with other dogs. Your pet’s comfort and safety are my top priorities.
A typical day
Every dog and group of dogs is unique, so I shape the day around what your pet needs — exercise, feeding, play, downtime, or companionship.
