Relaxing Staycation for your Pup!
We’re a warm, down-to-earth, dog-loving family in Alexandria offering boarding and drop-in visits. I’m a mom to two wonderful kids (ages 7 and 10) who are gentle, responsible, and experienced with dogs. We used to have a dog of our own, so our pups are used to lots of attention, play, and gentle care. I work just five minutes away and sometimes work from home, so I can check in every couple of hours for walks, potty breaks, or cuddle time. Your dog will enjoy a structured, predictable routine with morning, afternoon, evening, and pre-bedtime walks, plus time on our small, fully fenced patio for outdoor fun. I love to tailor care to each dog’s personality—whether they love to play, explore, or relax. I’ll send daily photo and video updates so you can feel confident and at ease while you’re away. For safety, I ask that dogs are house trained or crate trained and fully up to date on veterinary care. My goal is to make your dog’s stay fun, safe, and stress-free—so they feel loved and cared for as part of our family.

Melissa took care of my dog, Toots, for 8 days while we were on vacation, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! This was my first time using Rover and the first time leaving Toots with someone other than a family member, so I was extremely nervous. Melissa suggested doing a meet-and-greet beforehand, and it immediately put my mind at ease. It went so well, and I could tell right away how comfortable Toots was with her. Melissa has such a warm, positive energy, and it was clear that she genuinely loves dogs. She also understood how anxious I was about leaving Toots and was incredibly reassuring. Throughout our trip, she sent daily updates and photos, which meant so much to me. Thanks to her, I was able to truly enjoy my vacation without worrying about Toots’ well-being. Melissa was always responsive, easy to communicate with, and went above and beyond to make sure both Toots and I felt comfortable. I wholeheartedly recommend Melissa to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog sitter. If I ever need to leave Toots with someone other than my closest family, Melissa will absolutely be my first choice!

Schedule
My schedule is very flexible, which allows me to accommodate boarding and drop-in visits with ease. I’m available every day, including weekends, and can check in as often as every two hours for walks, potty breaks, and one-on-one attention. From short visits to overnight stays, I make sure every dog feels comfortable, cared for, and at home.

Your dog’s comfort and safety are my top priorities. I have a small, fully fenced patio for secure outdoor time, supervised walks, and potty breaks. My home is calm and welcoming, and my kids are experienced, gentle, and respectful with all breeds and personalities. Dogs are never left unattended for long periods, and I’m happy to crate or confine them for safety or rest. I follow your dog’s routine, meals, and any special needs so they feel secure and happy while in my care.
A typical day
A typical day is filled with walks, cuddles, and playtime tailored to your dog’s energy and personality. We’ll explore our neighborhood with long walks, enjoy sniffing adventures, visit nearby Shirlington Dog Park, and spend time on our fenced patio. Your pup will get plenty of attention from me and my two kids, mental stimulation with toys and gentle games, and regular potty breaks. Every day is designed to be fun, engaging, and relaxing, so your dog feels happy, safe, and loved while in our care.
