Relaxing Staycation for your Pup!
We’re a warm, down-to-earth, dog-loving family in Alexandria offering boarding and drop-in visits. I’m a mom to two wonderful kids (ages 7 and 10) who are gentle, responsible, and experienced with dogs. We used to have a dog of our own, so our pups are used to lots of attention, play, and gentle care. I work just five minutes away and sometimes work from home, so I can check in every couple of hours for walks, potty breaks, or cuddle time. Your dog will enjoy a structured, predictable routine with morning, afternoon, evening, and pre-bedtime walks, plus time on our small, fully fenced patio for outdoor fun. I love to tailor care to each dog’s personality—whether they love to play, explore, or relax. I’ll send daily photo and video updates so you can feel confident and at ease while you’re away. For safety, I ask that dogs are house trained or crate trained and fully up to date on veterinary care. My goal is to make your dog’s stay fun, safe, and stress-free—so they feel loved and cared for as part of our family.

Melissa was wonderful and kept up updated throughout the visit. She even took Skunkle to the vet when she showed signs of a UTI which took up a large part of her day. She went above and beyond for ensuring Skunkle was cared for. Extremely trust worthy and wonderful!
Melissa took great care of Frida making sure she got plenty of outdoor time with walks and park time at her son’s sporting events. She has a very calm nature, has plenty of dog toys and gave timely updates. She was also very flexible with drop off and pick up times which was greatly appreciated.
Melissa took great care of our dog Charlie! She took the time to meet with him beforehand to get to know his behavior and make sure he was comfortable in her home. She sent updates with pictures every day so we knew he was doing well and having a good time. Melissa is clearly passionate not just about dog sitting but taking time to really understand and accommodate different dogs’ personalities and make her home a comfortable and safe space for them. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for someone to take excellent care of their dogs!

Schedule
My schedule is very flexible, which allows me to accommodate boarding and drop-in visits with ease. I’m available every day, including weekends, and can check in as often as every two hours for walks, potty breaks, and one-on-one attention. From short visits to overnight stays, I make sure every dog feels comfortable, cared for, and at home.

Your dog’s comfort and safety are my top priorities. I have a small, fully fenced patio for secure outdoor time, supervised walks, and potty breaks. My home is calm and welcoming, and my kids are experienced, gentle, and respectful with all breeds and personalities. Dogs are never left unattended for long periods, and I’m happy to crate or confine them for safety or rest. I follow your dog’s routine, meals, and any special needs so they feel secure and happy while in my care.
A typical day
A typical day is filled with walks, cuddles, and playtime tailored to your dog’s energy and personality. We’ll explore our neighborhood with long walks, enjoy sniffing adventures, visit nearby Shirlington Dog Park, and spend time on our fenced patio. Your pup will get plenty of attention from me and my two kids, mental stimulation with toys and gentle games, and regular potty breaks. Every day is designed to be fun, engaging, and relaxing, so your dog feels happy, safe, and loved while in our care.
