Safety, trust & environment
Whether caring for pets in my home or yours, I focus on creating a calm, safe, and loving environment. I follow each pet’s routine closely — from feeding and walks to playtime and cuddles — to help them feel secure and comfortable. I’m attentive to every detail, keeping things safe, consistent, and stress-free, so your pets can relax and you can have peace of mind while you’re away.
Information Melissa A. would like to know about your pet
For regular walks or drop-ins, I just need to know if your pet has any known triggers, allergies, or aversions so I don't cause any unnecessary stress while we're together. For example, if they regularly go nuts when they hear the doorbell, need to avoid other dogs or children during their walks, or can only have gluten-free treats, etc. To stay in my home, I need to know if your dog is housetrained and socialized to be around another dog. A dog-to-dog meet and greet would be best. I also have a tortoise, but he lives in a discrete enclosure and they won't even know he's here. I can easily keep the dogs separated with gates if needed, but if that will be stressful for your dog, it may not be a good fit. For weekends or late pickups I would need to know that your dog is ok with small children.
A typical day
After my son goes to daycare, it's just me and my dog at home to snooze, play, cuddle, train, and walk around the neighborhood. Sometimes we have a friend's dog come over for a playdate and hang out in the fenced yard for hours! Inside, we have a toy basket to peruse and a napping couch just for the dogs, plus a 3-season porch to lounge in the sun or get the zoomies out on cold or rainy days.

Pet care experience
With a lifetime of experience caring for animals of all kinds — from energetic large dogs to gentle senior cats — I bring patience, skill, and genuine love to every pet I meet. I understand that every pet has specific needs, and I am flexible to updating my setup to meet those needs as best I can. I currently have a dog and a Russian tortoise, and have had pets ranging from 150lb Newfies to 5lb kittens, so I understand how different individual pets can be in their needs for safety and comfort, and I always strive to meet them where they're at. I’m experienced at administering a wide range of medications, providing special care for older or anxious pets, and reinforcing basic training routines. My background even includes caring for small animals like rodents and reptiles, so no creature is too big or too small to feel at home with me.

Reviews
Melissa is an excellent pet sitter. She was my go-to pet sitter for my dog, Maya, during the time when we lived close and I was traveling often. Maya would always enjoy her time with Melissa. I would routinely receive welcomed picture updates of Maya happily walking or lounging, which eased my mind while I was away from my pup. I have no doubt that Melissa will take great care of your pet. Simply put, she's the best!
Missy has been watching my dog, Oliver, for almost a year now. He goes 3 days per week for 3-5 hours per day. I know that Oliver is safe, watched closely, cleaned up after, loved and properly hydrated. Oliver is a high energy, not quite 2yr old, Golden. He gets along with very well with Ava, the dog of the house, so well that just saying her name gets him hyped up to spend another day. The area is fenced in and has plenty of room for romping, private corners for doggy business and lots of shade to relax in. I’m so fortunate to have this service available to me, where I know he will be loved and protected like he was their own. I would recommend Missy to anyone in need of this service!
