Information Melanie W. would like to know about your pet

I believe the most important questions deal with your animal's health and well being. I make sure to have a list of all medications, food allergies and dietary specifics. I like to know what your pet loves...a favorite toy, long walks or cuddle time? Finally, does your dog like to jump fences, resource guard food/toys or have any funny "quirks". I have worked with many breeds, from little Chihuahuas to strong Pit Bulls and every dog in between.

A typical day

We go for lots of walks and play in the backyard. Then, we cuddle! We also play a lot of fun nose work and brain games.

Pet care experience

I know first hand how hard it can be to find someone you completely trust to take care of your furry family member. It's often stressful for the pet parent as well as the animal while apart. You want to know your family member is being well taken care of and loved. This is where I come in! There have been times when I've passed on a vacation because of the worry I felt about leaving my dog. I knew there must be plenty of people who feel the way I do! I found Rover, and with years of animal experience and my private pet sitting business, I knew I could help! *My family has fostered over 35 homeless dogs and have cared for each one with love and respect. I have volunteered for many years at a no kill animal shelter, working with dogs. I am well trained in caring for dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I have a lot of experience handling powerful breeds. I also have experience caring for cats, birds, guinea pigs/rats/hamsters, chickens, lizards and snakes. Animals truly are my life! I'm experienced in special needs diets, administering medications and caring for injured or disabled animals. I take in (and visit) dogs of all ages and training levels. I have helped train puppies, as well as break bad habits and reinforce good house and leash manners in older dogs. I do not shy away from timid dogs, senior pets with health issues or rambunctious puppies. I can often help you with common doggy issues. **IN YOUR HOME** I travel to your home for daily walks, feeding and one on one time with your animal. *I have been a dog walker and pet sitter for many years. I am well trained in handling dogs of all sizes, temperaments and walking styles. All of my clients trust me to enter their homes, care for their pets and pick up their mail/water plants, etc. I believe trust is earned and I will treat your home and animals with the utmost respect and care. I have clients for years, not days, as my "clients" become part of my community. I have seen their animals and children grow up. This is the BEST part of my job. Building a community, one animal at a time. **CATS...I absolutely love cats! I'm experienced handling animals with behavior issues, grumpy seniors and quirky personalities. **Birds/lizards/snakes/small creatures...I've worked with birds and reptiles for years (and have owned my fair share of both). As well as guinea pigs, rats, etc. Every animal, big or small, gets the best care.

Melanie is a terrific walker and a great fit for our dog. She took the time for an initial meet and greet and connected right away with our pup. Her knowledge and training experience gives us peace of mind too, esp since our boy is working thru leash aggression. It’s easy to see that our fur kid is happy from all the pics she shares. Can’t recommend Melanie enough!

Melanie took great care of our cat over the weekend and even spent time doing a meet and greet! She was on time for each visit and spent lots of timing playing with the cat. We received multiple photos of visit! Everything was left neat and tidy.

Melanie has been taking care of our cats whenever we’re away for over two years now, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Our pets are always happy and clearly well-loved in our absence — and that peace of mind is truly priceless. She’s reliable, communicative, and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure everything is perfect. We highly recommend Melanie to anyone looking for a kind, trustworthy, and professional pet sitter!
