Animals are my joy!
Friends and family have relied on me to provide care and companionship for cats, dogs, and birds since my teenage years. I gained additional experience with animals as a zookeeper at Brookfield Zoo and a staff member at Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital. I also completed a one-month internship with the Farm Sanctuary in New York.

Most importantly, I come to know each pet and his/her unique personality, characteristics, quirks, likes, dislikes and more. To do so, I rely on my client's extensive input and my careful observation of each pet. I am calm and quiet so pets feel safe around me. I respect a pet's choice to become friends or not. I am conscientious and thorough, fulfilling all responsibilities as directed by my client. I am reliable and communicate regularly with a pet's family. I know common animal health concerns and would contact my client immediately to explain exactly what I am seeing.

Melanie was wonderful with our cat Mino, who is very shy with strangers. She gave him space when he needed it and kept us updated every day with detailed messages. By the end of the stay, they had become good friends, which is a big deal for him! We’d absolutely book her again.
Melanie was great with our cats. She updated us daily with pictures and let us know what was going on. We will definitely use her again if needed.

Schedule
I am pursuing pet sitting on a part-time basis; my work schedule best meets the needs of cats. Currently, I have mornings and evenings available for cat visits on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Fridays through Mondays, I am free in the afternoons also.
- CatsMelanie can host up to 1 drop-in per day
- It's important to know about any health or special needs. (Please note: I do not give oral or injectable medications). It's also helpful to know what the client is looking for in a sitter to ensure I am a good fit. The meet and greet will provide much more information including the pet's personality, quirks, likes and dislike, etc.
