I’m an educated dog trainer, fully insured, and pet First Aid certified, with experience handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments — including puppies, seniors, and dogs who may need a little extra patience or structure. I currently offer drop-in visits, dog walking, and house sitting throughout the Annapolis Valley area. While I no longer offer boarding in my home, I focus on providing high-quality care in your dog’s familiar environment to help them feel safe, comfortable, and stress-free while you’re away. My approach goes beyond basic pet sitting. With my training background, I naturally reinforce good manners, structure, and positive behaviours during visits and walks. I’m always happy to support existing routines and can provide helpful training guidance when requested. During visits and walks, I bring treats (if allowed), enrichment ideas, and a calm, confident energy. You can expect detailed updates, photos, and open communication so you always know how your pet is doing. I treat every dog like they’re my own and every home with the utmost respect. Whether you’re looking for consistent weekly care, vacation coverage, or support as a first-time dog owner, my goal is to provide dependable, professional, and genuinely loving care you and your pet can trust.

I carefully follow your dog’s routine, use secure leashing and handling practices, and ensure doors, gates, and environments remain safe at all times. In your home, I am respectful, tidy, and professional. I maintain your pet’s normal schedule to reduce stress while you’re away and provide updates so you always feel informed and at ease. With my training experience, I’m confident handling dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels, including those who may be anxious, reactive, or high-energy.

This is the first time I used the Rover app. I found Melanie and am so grateful. She was professional at our 'get to know' meeting and Millie took to her quickly. While sitting for us she sent picture updates and made it clear our dog was in good hands. She left the house clean and in order. She responded quickly to my messages. I would use her services in am instant.
Melanie was great. She responded to my inquiry right away. Melanie took the time to meet me and my dog before we were going away to make sure that we were all a good fit. She asked lots of questions about our daily routine. My dog stayed with Melanie for 6 days. We received pictures and daily updates. I would highly recommend Melanie.

Schedule
Pet care is a central part of my daily routine and business, so I intentionally keep my schedule structured around my clients’ needs. I plan my days to allow enough time for unrushed visits, proper walks, enrichment, and quality one-on-one attention. I’m available for regular weekly clients, vacation coverage, and flexible bookings throughout the Annapolis Valley area. Because this is a dedicated part of my work, I prioritize consistency, reliability, and clear communication so your pet always receives dependable care.
